I'm going to be swapping my 1990 wiring harness for another 1990 wiring harness. The one in my car is so hacked up that it is giving me problems so I have an unpacked one. My question is what is the fastest, easiest, but doing it right route to do this? Do you absolutely have to remove the dash or is it to much of a PITA without removing it? I have no problem removing it if that will end up being the easiest and best route to do it. Give me some insight from the ones that have done it. Thanks, Bill

Easiest route remove it thats how i did mine no insights really grab a manual and begin learning i havent seen a step by step process, there is so much to it but a few hours its out, quite simple after you do it once, ive done my too many times. Its really a matter of getting in there and removing whats in the way, get in there and begin the fun.

you shouldnt need to remove the dash. it comes thru the firewall in the upper right if your sitting in the seats. if you remove the glove compartment you can get the 5 plugs thru that way. 3 go to the ecu and the other 2 go behind the passenger right side kick panel.

on the drivers side you drop the under side of the dash and you can do the swap if you lay upside down.

a few tips.

remove the front seats so you can lay flat inside the car

its not going to lay in as neat as the stock harness so be patient and use zip ties / factory harness tie downs

when doing the left interior drivers side fuse panel it is easier to remove it with the old harness and reinstall it with the new one.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna start removing tomorrow night.

Well got the dash out and the old engine wiring harness removed. I also removed all the heating and cooling parts under the dash since my car won't have either. Question is does anyone know what to plug the holes with? The holes I'm referring to are in the firewall where pieces of the ac/heat units went through. Also here is a great link that is looking for a step by step to remove a 1g dash. Helped me out a ton.

For the hole where the A/C lines went through the firewall: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/vendor-announcements/386849-last-ones-available-get-em-while-they-last.html. These might take a little bit of searching, but they certainly can be found. ....................................I have two of them.

For the holes where the heater lines go through the firewall, they use two of the same plugs for the transmission mount bracket to frame bolts in the passenger inner fender well. You can find these at a junkyard very easily.
