i am adding the final touches to my 2g drag build..i have all the big things and most of the small thing..(we all forget stuff ....comon..admit it LOL)

anyways i am going to try and get everything for the trans, on the first build.
which is why i am here....i prefer to do it myself but if necessary i can always send it out i am just curious as to my current ideas on what i need..i havent seen many of the big guys go into detail on there driveline.(unless i missed it or used the wrong search terms)

2g trans, modded valve body (ipt), kiggly flex plate, full line pressure?,ratchet shifter, kiggly end clutches, decently big cooler and fan.... maybe an lsd if i have the funds... if i missed anything or if i am completely delusional please set me straight.

anyone going pretty fast with a stock converter(loosened up a bit of course)? ive been looking at some of the faster auto guys and see they are running an 8 or 9 in converter anyone having alot of problems pushing through the converter on the big end?i had all kind of problems with my mustang with this so i am trying to avoid it at all costs....

now for the car i am hoping to push over 500 through the automatic so it needs to be pretty decent i would expect.

Id like to say good questions and I have the same ones!

What turbo are you going with. Usually that's part of what converter your picking. Depending on that you will probably need to go with a 8 or 9 inch billet unit.

After this season Im going to rebuild my trans with Kiggly 5 disc 3rd clutch pack and then IPT end clutch kit. Then pull out the center diff and get that welded up. Even stock auto trans have seen 500hp. They are pretty damn tough

Also what are the places to get those good billet converters? Ive herd of bradco, precision ect any other ones?

well i was shooting to use a hx52.....twin scroll.. and hope i can use a little spray on a loosened up stock converter to get it out of the hole in a decently quick manner.

center diff i will def weld..

"Kiggly 5 disc 3rd clutch pack and then IPT end clutch kit" pretty much what i was looking at..
and the manual valve body i referenced i beleive i actually meant the kiggly mod that makes it a manual shift along with full line pressure. i should have looked over that part more i copied it from an email i sent my trans guy in southern ohio

I was lookin at those.... I am just Leary of having an electronic controller.... Just something I havent used.

Stock restalled converters seem to be alright. You'll only stall up to 3000-3500 most likely though. I'd called Hughes or Precision Industries and see what they can do for you converter wise. Tell them your specs and they should be able to match a converter nicely to your setup.

Awesome. I think at first I am gonna see how far I can go on a loose stock one and see what happens... I am just leery of buying a converter without talking to someone who uses what I am trying to buy

just saying but i could stall over 3000 on my stock converter... never did it though because it was fwd and when i let off brakes i would just spin.. i would try stock converter and see if you like it

My friend just got a Sinister converter for 850. Pretty fast turn around and great communication from the owner. It is a 9" version. Streetability is like stock. You can not even tell the different driving around town. The ability to stall up is significant. On a Mirage, the factory 1g turbo converter is so tight that it will pull the car through the brake at 2000rpm. With the Sinister 9", it stall instantly up to 3500rpm with light foot brake. Spray a 55 shoot and it goes over 4000rpm with ease. With a vacuum pump, I believe it will hold 4000rpm stall without the nitrous.

On the stock converter, the car went 7.0s in the 1/8 mile at 113mph with a 1.9 60ft. Other people have been quicker with a stock converter. The turbo lag like mad because he is only able to launch the car at 2000rpm on the stock converter. He is running a gtx3076r so it is not the quickest spooling turbo. Best part is the converter is only $850.00 plus core charge from Sinister. I am waiting to see what the Sinister converter can do on the dyno and at the track.

I am looking to get a Precision Industry 9" billet converter for my car. I have manage to squeeze the giant 2g automatic into my mirage with a lot of cutting just to use this converter. Sinister does make a 9" for the 2g tranny too for a few hundred bux cheaper. I want the billet converter so I want the Precision Industry one.

I was looking at the 9 inch for my talon...it looks to be the best of both worlds. I just don't wanna loose the top end if I can help it.

I think my colt is going fwd auto (2g) if I can get anyone to buy my manuals/sell me a 2g fwd LOL I just play around with it so a stock restall with some big hx turbo should be fun from a roll LOL
