I have a 90 tsi. Just had the ECU converted to EPROM and installed ECMLink. Now car won't run and pulling a 0012 code off the DTC. What am I doing wrong here?

Car also has a GM MAF on it.

Car won't start just cranks. Any helpful tips for this rookie?

Also, once you have that done go ahead and verify that your injectors are set at the proper dead-time and latency rates in the fuel table. baseinjectordata [ECMTuning - wiki]

Reset your fuel trims then get a log (idle/cruise) of MAF COMP (combined FT) right click on the log and run the adjustment tool, it will plot where your airflow should be and you can then move the sliders to match those new plotted locations.

This guide is helpful too.. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-tuning-ecu/262460-basic-dsmlink-tuning-guide.html

That should help get you rolling.

But first make sure you do a full tune-up and boost leak test before you get started, I'm aware you may have recently bought this car. Check the timing belt too.

Ill give it a shot today I have the deadtime set up at the 180 for each injector and I have the gm maf in there

timing belt is good now I am getting a dtc 0012 volume air malfunction. the car is idleing like crap and wont stay running

Ok, check global too for the injectors.

0012 is MAF related? Make sure your connections are good. Are you running a MAFT or the GM Link cable? If you're the MAFT make sure to open it up and zero out the settings. Also double check that the MAF is not installed backwards.

Got it to start but won't hold idle still runs rough and pulls that dtc

Well the DTC is making it easy for you. You have a MAS air malfunction, most likely related to the MAF or the wiring between the MAF and the ECU, it's as simple as that.

I have to ask what injectors? My car wouldn't do the same, but it was my dead time. Also is the MAF a Blow-through setup? Or before the turbo?

No the car ran before really crappy but it ran that's why I got the link to fine tune it

Here are a few of his logs. Newest log is "driving log new front-02"

Also guys please take into account that he cannot go over 2500rpm and the car refuses to go into closed loop mode. Operating temp is around 205-210, TPS .63 volts, 02 oscillates (most of the time).

Parts that have been replaced to try and remidy this situation.
New 02 sensor
New GM MAF

Another thing to note is that this his Talon is a 90, his ECU should be a 90 as well but we are uncertain. I had him switch the pins 6 and 14 on the larger block of the ECU harness connectors with the same result, same DTC and the car also idles.

I looked at the logs... Is the "Lock in open loop" checkbox un-checked?

I'd suspect the MAF by looking at the signal in the logs - either wiring, connector, or sensor itself.

If you looked at the logs you could see for yourself if the "lock in OL" box was checked or not.

Sorry, I'm new to DSMLink, I'm doing my best to try to learn. I didn't realize I could view the ECU config without being connected to the ECU.

I see the MAFraw is staying around 25Hz while MAF varies from around 100Hz up to 1000Hz. Is this what makes you think the MAF is not reading correctly?

...MAFRaw on a car running a GM MAF should log around 500Hz at idle. That being said, it should also increase with airflow (engine revving) which also isn't happening.

The stock MAS idles around 35-40Hz.

Thanks for this bit of information. boost198 and I are good friends, but since i moved half way across the country I am very limited as to how i can help his situation.

Just to put it out there, he bought a new MAF a few days back as per my instructions to him, there same issues (DTC, stuck in open loop) seems to still occur.

With the input that Gofer has made, I believe the issue to be wiring, there is nothing else I can think of that would cause this issue. The ecu seems to be receiving a airflow signal, its just not coming from the maf, or its not coming from the MAF properly.

Thanks for the responses, and i apologize for the thread bump.
