This debates been brought up loads of times.

It all depends on your use. From what it seems the higher ports in the 2g head allow it to have more low end torque and hp. (Post #15,16,2)

Keep in mind using a 2g head will require you to machine the Headstud holes to the 1g headstud size.

1g Head already has HUGE ports in the head compared to the 2g so its a lot easier to just put together and there will be a bit less machine work as well but it all comes down to application and how much you want to spend.

Here's a huge thread on the subject

Really I would say it's more of a personal preference thing and what you plan on doing with your car (drag, autocross, daily driver, whatever). As stated above you're going to get more velocity out of a 2g head, which in turn leads to more low end. A 1g head due to it larger ports will theoretically flow more air up top for bigger horsepower numbers. Read thru the linked thread above and make the choice you prefer. I personally prefer my 2g head for the velocity and daily driving.

Evo 3 intake manifold 264 cams fp race manifold, you will never worry about your top end. My 14b at 20psi screams all the way to redline and wants to keep going. I can only imagine what it will do once it gets the e316g
