The sensor its just like any maf sensor is the a cel, it would send a code for the mas for your dsm, do you have a logger, or link to check for codes.
 
It's not exactly on a dsm. It's on my truck, and it's idling extremely high and figuring this may be a cause for it.

...but it does have a CEL.
 
An age old trick to test the gm hot wire maf, is with the vehicle running hit it and if it changes the idle or stumbles, it's failing or failed. I usually will use a rubber mallet or the handle end of a screw driver. You want to tap the middle plastic part. They typically fail from the contacts breaking and making on/connection, hence the tapping.
