i would get a wrx
but then again maybe its a jeep thing and i wouldn't understand

Get whatever car you are leaning towards and just add some sound deadener/dampener to the floor to help eliminate road noise.

A jeep as a dd for 3 hour round trips?? :hmm:

They get what 18mpg highway?

Am i the only one that thinks rationally LOL. Get a 2 door hatchback 5 speed and get 40mpg.

That alone with save you $50+ a week in gas alone. $200 savings will almost cover insurance and the car payment.

Are you looking to buy a new or used one?

My WRX (2012 with 2.5 liter engine) gets 29mpg when i dont drive like a jackass. Mines a 5 speed as well and insurance in 96 bucks a month for full coverage through state farm.

Its also pretty quick (300hp, 330tq) and not loud at all. I have a full turbo back 3" exhaust to twin 2.5" tips with only 4" mufflers and no resonator. It was a lot quieter when stock.

The WRX has very little back seat leg room. If you are planning to drive friends around they better have short legs. Go test drive to see if it would work for you with people in the back seat.

I had a 2011 Wrangler soft top and you can hear the radio fine and carry a conversation on without yelling just fine. Then I traded it in on my 2012 hemi ram because it gets about the same gas mileage LOL. The epa rating is actually 20 mpg vs. 19 in the wrangler

How about a Audi a4? Those things are really nice ( I have one and love it) and I get 25 mpg. I have the turboed AWD version and it is a blast to drive and very quiet. Just an option I would throw out there

Get a wrx, rip apart the interior and add sound dampening material to everything. You will have the quietest car EVER.

It doesn't need to be perfectly quiet. I just don't want it to be as loud as my eclipse, like inside noise.

bro, your joking about hearing thew road noise?

my car is stripped with a thin ass carpet left, trunk gutted with barely any pannels left, and fully built, front to back, top to bottom, with a alpine r1 system and amps. and there is no problem with not hearing the radio/music. just lookup decent sound systems, or JUST GO WITH THE SUBIE!

I love our Wrangler Unlimited Sahara.
However if you don't want road noise then don't get a Jeep. Other then that it's great and one of the last true 4x4s imo.

Over the past week I found a 2006 impreza to test drive and it seemed like a world of difference compared to my car now. It was way quieter, and the exhaust noise wasn't like it was literally in the car. I love the AWD, so if anything this is my choice car.. He was also selling it for 7k but that's just an impreza. Next I test drove a 2013 jeep wrangler rubicon and it wasn't loud at all, but I knew it was a newer jeep and of course it would be nicer than the older models. Also the price was way out of my budget. It was a nice jeep though.

I'd loose my shit if i had to hear the sound of a boxer engine every day. I'm working on a thesis to prove that the EJ motors cause paranoid and may be the reason for a majority of depression based suicide.
