Glad, Oregon
Just moved to Gladstone and looking for any activity in the Portland area. I'm hoping to be able to hit PIR next month when things settle down but I'd like to meet some fellow petrol heads before then. Track time with a group is always more fun.

I went to the cars and coffee near the airport on Saturday morning, but I was the only DSM. There was an Evo there, but it looks like the guy was a buyer, not a builder. I feel sorry for his smoking twin-disk with only 5k miles on it, but no biggie with English right across the river if you have the funds.

Before I left the meet, I only found one other guy that built his stuff who had a mid 90's Impreza/STI build. I didn't even see anyone else that had an indication of tracking their cars, but there were quite a few kids spending their parents' money. Not really sure what the point of hella-flush/over-cambered awd is, but to each their own.

That's why I stopped going to Portland meets. There are a lot more people working on their own cars here in Salem.

I've heard PIR sucks for the strip because the contact patches are awful and apparently the track is "bumpy". I've always wondered if it is true, but being so close to woodburn I've never had much reason to ever even go there.

I'd be interested in hearing what your thoughts are on the track.

Portland sucks best place for car meets is flordia. Pir sucks too woodburn way better.

A track is a track, at least we have one to play with. C&C are your best bet, we also have a group of guys that hang out and talk cars all the time but its more of an informal thing, and not always about dsms or cars in general. You can always join in with us sometime when we are tinkering, just hit me with a pm and we can talk more about it.

FWIW, Lucas English and some of the others from English Racing go to alot of the C&C meets, so even if the majority of the cars there are high dollar, low wrench time, at least he is around to bullshit with. Ive never really seen any of the lurkers (no one who has chimed in on this forum) who claim to have high HP dsms at the meets ive attended but I have met some cool dsm'ers none the less.

I haven't had much time to go to C&C due to working a lot and this weekend I would but we have the rose cup races so I'm pit crewing for Cindy Lux. But I have hopes to be there with my galant soon

I'm not even so much into the drags, but the AutoX in South Paddock. I'm used to a kart track for autox in Southern Oregon, so the flat track and cones are a bit of a drag.

I believe they have some events at a kart track called Pat's Acres Racing Complex (PARC). I've seen mostly drifting, but I'm sure they do some solo time trials or something.

I'm hoping to eventually get my competition license and go door-to-door on the road course. Until then, I need more seat time.

Clipto, your feedback is ever so useful, much like a painful sexually transmitted infection.

Good to know about the other occasional attendees at C&C. I'll need to hit up English at some point to get new build on a trans. I chewed up 1st gear when the clutch pedal assembly went out. I was was SOL on letting it sit until I could fix it and now it grinds when at a stop.

Not so interested at hanging with DSMers, since there are so few that have actually put in the time and work and then actually drive. At the autox courses, I end up spending a lot of time with owners of Evos, STIs, Miatas, Fieros, and tons of other little home-built course runners.

noobsauce, I just read up on the Rose Cup races and that sounds like a blast! That's this weekend?!

I'm up in Vancouver if any one wants make crew let do it

Not sure what ganna do krew style. I mean can just meet up and make friends. But krew is overrated word for friends just hang out right? Nothing really in a krew unless we all ganna krew up and rob a bank or something LOL.

I don't know Vancouver much I just work here that's all I'm from Kalama by woodland BG AREA, send me a message witch a number names tre' btw

Haha, I just found that there was more activity on this thread. I just got married and the car's been down with a transmission rebuild and clutch work, so I haven't been searching for people to hang with.

I just used the term crew because it was shorter than "group of people into DSMs that want to chill and hang out."

I did go to the Rose Cup races that Saturday and got to see some great racing. My goal is to get into the Cascade Sports Car Club HPDE road racing by the start of next season so I can get out on the track.
