Rebuilt enine on my 92 talon tsi awd
Before the timing belt sheered my only mods were:
-Stage 4 ACT clutch
-ngk plugs
-9mm wires
-3inch downpipe/exhaust
-16lbs of boost on 14b
-balance shafts removed
-evo 3 exhaust manifold
-Arp head studs
-cometic head gasket
The car launched savagely and pinned you back in the seat
After complete rebuild:
(Same mods as earlier)+
-brian crower dual valve springs
-oem mitsubushi valves new
-forged rods and pistons (8.3:1)
-used hks 272 cams(talk more about this later)
-255lph fuel pump
-560cc injectors
-tubular exhaust manifold
-changed every gasket/seal/ new water pump/new oil pump
- ecu from 93 fwd turbo talon 5 speed. Took my old one out because capacitors were about to pop (oozing out gel)
Now trying to get it back running "right":
-500 miles on new motor
-idles on 9lbs of vacuum
-Idles at 750rpm
-top dead center notch on balancer at the "T" on the timing cover while cam gears notches are lined up and the both dowels in cams gears point up
-hooked up a timing light and ignition timing lights up the balancer notch at the "T" on the timing cover
-compression test: cylinder #1-155 cylinder #2 154 cylinder #3 155 cylinder #4 156
Still have check engine light but its been on since I've had the car I checked it a while back it was like code 22? Or 20 something
The car has no where near as much power as it did before it will still get up and fly but something is different. Feels like its hesitating or like air isn't getting into the head on the intake stroke. Or somethings not opening up. Like before I could effortlessy spin/bark all 4 tires in 1st and second. Boost gauge goes up to 16 like normal when pedal is on the floor and the engine winds up like normal. Its hard to explain online what its doing
I think the used cams I have are the culprit. My rocker arms are wayyyyyyy too loose. I can almost pull them out from under the cam when its not pressing down on them the cams say "hks" and "272" on either side
All my vacuum lines are hooked up (unless I miss matched them but I doubt it could cause such a difference In power)
All my clamps and intake fittings are tight
Any ideals anyone?
