Hello everyone i bought a 97 GST with a 6 bolt engine with Cyclone Turbo intercooler that i do not know how to actuate and i'm finding out i have to buy a (DSM link v3 2g) and maybe transmission or TCU problems i have a little over $2,000 to spend to fix the car and hoping not to spend that much. Just wanted to ask you guys if its worth my time messing around with this engine. The engine runs great the turbo holds boost great and its really quick!

Now i had an idea of Buying the original engine and putting it back in the car off of a JDM Mitsubishi website that distibutes engines.

Whats your thought of this and what do you think i should do? I'm at a stall right now..

That's a 6 bolt engine so why would you want to replace it? If it has no issues then leave it in there.. You'd be swapping a 6 bolt for a 7 bolt if you went with the original engine which is backwards to what most people do..

If you want help post up your specific problems and we'll try to address them, as far as this thread leave the engine in there, no need for a swap.

swap it with stock and sell me your motor im in the market! Nah keep it where it is. You are having trouble actuating your intercooler because you cant. Cyclone is just the intake manifold. Unless I'm crazy you cant turn your intercooler on and off. What makes you think you are having transmission issues? Bad shifting? Did they use a kiggly plate to mount the 2g trans to the 6 bolt motor?

Yeah when i bought the car the guy said there is a kiggly plate. Well the reason why i asked if i should put the 7 bolt back in it because, so i dont i have to toy with DSMLink and hook emissions back up..

My transmission has a mind of its own, When the car is cold it shift's really well, when the car fully warms up and i've been drivein for a while if i go to put it in park it will go in park but if i put it in reverse or drive it just wont go into gear...

Drain flush, new filter. People often forget how important good trans fluid is. Does the fluid smell burnt or look brown? Not knocking anyone here but I've never had much luck on here when it comes to auto trans questions. May try the guys over at atdsm.com. Oh yeah forgot to ask. Does Illinois have emissions testing? Link is awesome and I think there are a few complete setups on the classifieds for cheap. It's really just up to you.
