Been having issues with battery draining almost overnight. (12hrs or so)

I think I have it narrowed down to 2.

1. amp
2. aftermarket alarm

im still in testing phase to see just how much drain is acceptable.

heres my question.

can an aftermarket alarm be powerfull enough to drain overnight?
I dont have siren hook up and the alarm rarely activates at night.
I just have it hook up for keyless entry

as far as amp goes im thinking of using a relay so its shut off when not in use(no power going at all.
im thinking of using a relay.

should I put the relay on positive
or negative?

(i think it doesnt matter since it will break the circuit no matter what but which is best?)

is there any other common drain that 1g is known to have issues with?

thanks

Well Unless the alarm is triggering at night then it should not drain the battery. The amp shouldn't either if you're using the remote wire to shut off the amp when the car is not running.

My question is...How old is the battery? What is its condition? Does it look swollen on the sides. Also if it has Maintenance caps, Pop them off and see if its acid level is low. If it looks low, then add Distilled water slowly till each cell is full almost to the top. Then charge the battery over night.

Had this problem with my old talon. Guy wired up the alarm all messed up like. I had to pull the fuse for my interior lights just so it wouldn't draw on it. Hook up a test light and start unplugging fuses, you'll find out if you have a draw one way or another
