Yes i am going to be buying a new turbo for my 2.3 setup. I have been reading on what turbos have been ran and don't know what to go with? I am shooting for a goal of 500hp + and i want to get close to that. I will list everything i plan on putting in. I also don't know what parts to use on my rebuilt head. So any input will be great. Thanks. :thumb:

Block:
100mm OEM stroker crank
Manley H beam rods
Wesco pistons
ARP main studs

Head: Haven't done a lot to the head but i am going to get some cams. The Head is stock as of now so i am doing some research on what i need. I dont know what all to go with though?
GSC S2 or S3
GSC spring
ARP head studs
MLS head gasket

(Im waiting for my car to be shipped down so i can drop my engine in)
I haven't finished by build yet but i will give my opinion on cam selection. I too have a 2.3 stroker, only with eagle rods being the difference. I have a set of gsc s2 cams with dual supertech springs. All of the research ive done points to the s2's for a 2.3l and a larger turbo (ex. 6466) to spool up 20psi or so around 4k RPM. Of course if you go with a turbo that size and... say, a divided t4 .84 housing you'll probably spool up just above 4500rpm for an ok power band to 7500rpm.

You could always buy a older 35r & be good for around 600 without the GTX or HTA upgrade. The 2.3 will help spool the turbo up & as far as cams I'd going with some Kelford 272's or BC 280's

I would highly suggest an HX40 (or equal size H1E). It's easily capable of your goals, and with a BEP T3 housing (or similar) you would still spool quick without being seriously restricted.

I would suggest nothing less than a set of 272's and their recommended spring setup. It would also be a very good idea to get some quality adjustable gears. There's some really good info in this thread: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cyl...68-2-3l-stroker-sc5031-bb-turbo-cams-run.html

Ok S2 are 274/274 intake and exhaust. And a 272 i would get that intake and exhaust. The Question i have is does S2's have more lift?. Also why get adjustable cam gears? And i want to do a HX40 swap but i haven't found if it bolts to my stock manifold? If its t3 i need a new manifold.

Not trying to be a dick, but I'm surprised no one has told you to search yet.
There are soooooo many different options for making 500+ hp. There is no one best way if that's what you're expecting to be spoon fed.
Spend some time looking through build threads on here, youtube, and your favorite search engine.

I thought there were rules regarding "use the search" replies? I would suggest research aswell but I like to hear current opinions on these types of things because if you read a thread from say 2010, a lot could easily change from then to no regarding parts, quality and reliability. I'm not saying you're a Dick though just to clarify LOL

Well to answer your question i already did before i made this forum. I want to see what other people have used or are running.

You can buy a bep housing for the hx 40 to bolt on.

Thats for the exhaust side i read. Are the bep housings hard to get? I haven't read that. And were could i get one maybe if i wanted one?

BEP Bullseye Power. Their website or classifieds. No they aren't hard to find/get. that and a 4" intake would bolt it on. Forced Performance sells a 4" intake.

I've seen the Bel housing in the classifieds.

I have yet to see it on beps, xpsi, sbr...anyone's site..i guess its a super secret upgrade you've got to go out by their dumpsters give the secret. nod, hand shake and maybe your going to see this mythical creature...maybe you'll even get a retail price...that would be swell...

I have yet to finish my build but I am aiming for high 500's and after nearly 6months of research and debating I decided to go with an hx40 in a t3 Hotside with a stroker setup just like yours! I'm running eagle rods and crank but that is negligible. As far as cams you can't go wrong with some kelford 272(not all 272's are the same FYI). also what fuel will you be running? If you want 500 on pump go big but e85 or meth Injection you might be able to get away with something a bit smaller turbo wise.

My choice of cams would be gsc s3s for a hx40 setup. S2s would still make plenty of power but S3s would make it easier. They do have a higher lift and are pretty aggressive cams.

I probably wouldn't pair that much cam with a BEP housing.. Bolt on or T3.

Depending on the rest of the setup, that may just be too much cam period. My last setup with the 59mm Borg really came alive when I switched to the big T4 hotside to compliment my previous custom "274" cams.

The S3's which I have now, are yet bigger than those were. Just something to think about. A set of adjustable gears would help you tailor VE to work with the smaller turbo.

Yeah a BC 272 vs a Kelford 272 are hardly in the same playing field.
