Recently tuned my 97 gsx after putting Evo iii 16g in, my hp peaked at 274.88 @3700 rpm's?? Only 259.71 hp at 6000 rpm's??? My mods are shown in profile this is real Evo iii not eBay now only new mods not listed is aem tru boost and aem a/f wideband. Any clue why peak would be at 3700 rpm's ??

This is based on Link's estimates i assume, or were you actually on the dyno?

What are the details of the setup? Cams, intake manifold, exhaust, etc?

On dynojet. 6bolt swap bored over 2, 2g head, dsmlink v3, Evo iii 16g, 3"exhaust, 3" dp, Gredy fmic. I believe that's it. Oh wurx bov vta. Oh 1g rods, j.e. Pistons 9:5:1 ratio.

What does the boost curve look like? Your TQ curve must plummet after 3700...

You are using stock cams and have an Evo 3 turbo. Your peak power is the turbo's boost spike.

How do you like the 9.5:1 pistons? That just seems a little high for pump gas to me, but I'd bet it'd be great with E85.

Love them. My goal is 350awhp. But I'm just lost as to why 274 awhp at 3700rpms. With what I have at 20psi boost I figured I should be over 300awhp at 6000rpms not 274 at 3700. Would boost leak cause this or is it because stock cams??

Tq climbs up the along with rpm scale.
I will post pic of dyno when I get home and on computer.

If your TQ curve were completely flat your peak HP would be at redline. TQ can't continue rising with RPM if HP is dropping off.

Tq @ 2500 is 60. At 3000 it's 90. At 4000 it's 149. At 5000 it's 200. At 6000 it's 240.

Run file says. 52.39F 30.11 in-HG, humidity 51%, uncorrected:1.00
Max power=274.88 max torque=290.88 max boost=21.65.

Ok I was reading it wrong. Tq spikes at 290 @ 3700rpm. And drops to 225 @ 6000 rpm's.

If you really only have 90ftlbs @ 3k on a 16g somethings wrong.

When I had my 16g I think I made 278ish whp on a dynamics on pump with a similar setups to yours except I was tuning with an afc. Throw some race gas in there and youll break into the 300s im sure.

I too would like to see your dyno chart, it seems like you might be getting hp/tq numbers backwards?

I'm not trying to lecture you but going into a dyno session with an EXPECTED hp/tq figure is always a bad idea, you set yourself up for disappointment. When I first put my 2g up on a dyno I did the same thing and left disappointed with my 16g numbers, 260hp/290tq on 21psi.

If you want 300+hp on that 16g (fudged dyno numbers or not) the stock cams won't cut it and neither will that boost level. Install a set of ARP head studs and 272's grinds and turn the boost up to 25psi, that will make the 300hp mark a bit easier and if you've got a good tuner it should be no problem.

:dsm:

Ok thanks for info. Will defintly look into head studs and cams.

Yeah after reading the hp/tq descriptions... I too was thinking you're reading hp and torque backwards.

Gofer I'm really jealous. I want a cf high rise spoiler bad. My car is white so painting it like yours but white I think would be sick. So yeah now just waiting until I move to KS to get more work done. Cams cam gears injen intake pipe new fmic with hks ssqv bov.
