So I discovered my wheel bearing was bad, and I used PB blaster on it and a slide hammer. However, the hub didn't separate from the knuckle, instead the bearing came apart so there is still the other half stuck in the knuckle...:ohdamn: What the hell should I try to do at this point? Should I do something to get the rest of the hub off or just get the rest of the bearing out and press another in? Thanks:sosad:

UPDATE: FYI, I got it out by getting the axle out of the way (2 bolts for ball joint and LCA) and beat it out with a BFH.

Heat up the outer spindle area with a torch and tap around the bearing plate with a hammer to break it loose. Then use a flat chisel and hit the seam between the bearing plate and the spindle. Moving around the entire 360* till you bust it loose. Try not to damage anything. Just use enough force to bust it free, and not gouge everything up.

Worst case scenario you'll have to remove the spindle and have it pressed out. The other half you can try the chisle and a pickle fork to wedge the piece of bearing off. You can rent a pickle fork( ball joint tool) at autozone. Heat that ring up and chisel it off.

Like Jeff said, try taking a BFH to alternate sides/corners, and spray some PB between the two when you can. It can take a while but it'll eventually wiggle out.

And for the replacement, I would highly suggest going with a quality replacement like these. I've had the cheap hubs completely fail in under 2k miles.

You had a hub fail in 2k? Jesus! That's ####ing dangerous.

Good advice, fellas.

No, I had both brand new front hubs fail. They developed enough play to let the rotors contact the caliper bracket. :|

I gladly coughed up the difference for the higher quality hubs, which are still going strong.

I really don't want to do this, but I thought about it and does anyone think that also swinging the hub out away from the axle and using a BFH behind the hub work? Why the hell is it always something with my car. Sometimes I seriously consider punting a baby bunny and pushing this thing off a cliff:sosad:
