I agree with Yoshi!!

I'm in the progress of turbocharging my car and want to build a setup/piping like this (of course with less bling bling):
http://www.abload.de/img/420atdd6z.jpg

But okay, I leave it stock for now. Maybe I gonna try it later when the car runs.

God that turbo set up on that link is effin sick, and it works on par with the hood vent!!!:hellyeah:

Who cares!?!?!? Its YOUR car. Do what YOU like.
Btw, that red 2g looks pretty badass. It all goes well together.

Functionallity ehh no, looks i think it looks good personally since i dont have a 420a i wouldnt do it because of the work needed with min results. Dont get me wrong the car looks amazing and the vent looks pretty cool! I really want to see more pics of that car like more of the back, and it would be interesting to see what motor it has..

Its another hole to trap air and slow the car down! If it to do with heat then just space the hood and the hinges with bolts to evak heat from the rear!

The above quote is correct...The scoop will interfere with the (factory tested) aerodynamics of the car and cause turbulance - hence slow the car down. On the other hand if you have a 420A engine it will feed fresh incoming air to the air filter (assuming you have a cold air system, like KN, installed). The fresh air will outweight any turbulance effects. If you have a 4G63 engine you will not benefit from the fresh incoming air and only screw with your vehicles aerodynamics. I hope this clears things up a bit.

It would add more wear and tear on the timing belt and alt, imo. All the extra rain, road debris.

I hope im not one of those guys you are speaking of!!

1: you dont' know how what my car runs and i can tell you its WAY faster than 16 sec. (sorry i don't have proof to show yet but when my tranny is fixed and i get her tuned ill be sure to PM you my time slips!)

2: I wasn't downing on it in anyway, i simply said if its functional, DO IT, meaning no question ask, if its not, then its more on the "ok maybe ill think about it"

3: AND i DO believe i said, it looked nice, actually i said "its well put together!"

And last.. it was my OPINION... which the OP asked for so, if you may, stop putting down other peoples opinions!

Lol you shoulda left well enough alone. And correct you are, your car is even slower than a 16sec 1/4 LoL...no tranny :p

And for the record, I'd rather drive around a nice ride over sone ugly @$$ piece-o-junk any day. And by US auto sales I guess I'm not the only one... Go figure.

With this you are saying that the hood scoop makes the car look better than the OEM hood.?

I think it looks good but I personally wouldn't do it.

Why fight on the enternawebs? Why this fight? Who cares? Guy asked for opinions. Let us leave other's reasons for their opinions be. You can't win an arguement over aesthetics. So why 'fight the battle'?

I dont comment on tuners that often anymore Im just saying. Some shouldnt be so close minded in only doing performance mods. Other things make your car more you.

Many of the people only like the oem look because its what they are used to seeing. I guarantee that if the hood came factory with that scoop and someone mentioned closing it, everyone would flame him.

Let's keep this on topic. Who likes it; who doesn't. If you're interested in why the social psyche of this culture does what it does, you are not just welcome to but encouraged to start a thread discussing it in the hangout; or possibly in the site recommendations section if it can stay on the topic of the intent of this culture and improvements to it.

Some people need to realize that just because it doesn't make the car go faster doesn't mean it's pointless or stupid or rice... I'm the biggest believer in having your own opinions as long as you're not bashing someone else.

Heck the more I look at that scoop the uglier I think it is, I think the rest of the body is just so sexy it kinda fools you.

Come on children.... he didn't ask you to tell him what to do. He asked if you liked it. feel free to explain your answer, just don't call people ricers. Name-calling and belittling is against the rules & guidelines that you all should have agreed to.

Damn! Looks alot better than I thought!

So one-off I take it?

Sorry for bringing an old thread up but im thinking about doing this, i have 2.0 420A
Some people are saying theres no benifits to doing this mod, i was thinking relocate my battery And putting a short pipe for cold air intake and my air filter right infront of the vent.

Here is an old picture of when I first made my carbon fiber scoop. I cut out a square in the front of the bump with a grinder, then welded a support piece.

Made a carbon fiber scoop, placed it in and molded around it with fiberglass.
