1. Intro
14. Tear down and prep
15. Small update

Work has finally began on #1027. The Photos below were taken the day she became mine. I traded a Garret GT2860rs with Tial goodies, Miata 6 speed trans and a Mishimoto radiator for her. Since I have gotten her I have picked up a replacement transmission for her and a V3 ECMLink with more to come.

Build Goals:

- 300 to 325 HP respectively
- Daily driver
- Simply clean build
- Personalization
- Fixing short cut mods that were done by PO's
- Paint (original color is belize green but Im kinda diggin the sea foam green) strip and re spray the sea foam green.

I love it man! I to picked up a gvr4.. 271/1k. And am doing just about the same to it. Complete overhaul. Was going to ask tho, what fluids are you using to flush the trans?

Right on, Give her the attention she deserves. I ran a couple gallons of diesel fuel through.

Keep us updated brother! Doing the same to mine, just picked up 1150/2k. I'll make a build thread as well once I officially get started :)

GVR4s unite! LOL

Right on man, I will keep my eyes pealed for it. Stay tuned though, I should have more pics up soon. I got the old trans out tonight in hopes of having the replacement in this weekend!

Hell yeah! Fixing a few problems the PO made to mine as well, then going to get it tuned so I can DD it for a bit while I collect parts. 5 lug swap, Evo suspension and Evo 8 enkei's ftw!

Good luck with that tranny!

Looking good! Always good to see a Mitsu back in the hands of a worthy owner.

PO mistakes are a PITA! Thanks man, I just went back into the shop and pulled the ACT clutch a PP off, I was pleased to see a ACT Flywheel on there. SCORE!!! but will most likely need to be resurfaced. The clutch and pp are in horrible shape, very abused with loads of bluing and gouges in the PP as well as all the PP bolts having wear on one side of them. I had a duhfuq moment when inspecting them.

Im keeping my wheel and tire combo secret till I can get them and mounted, im sure some with hate it but Im going to love it. It will look sick with the seafoam, no where near rice so no worries should be had there.

I will update with pics soon!

Thanks for the words!

I just placed my order with Extremepsi today as well as a couple things from JNZtuning, getting close! :D

Awesome vr4 man!! Im jelous LOL. The only thing i can say is i wouldn't put HD shock proof in the trans, its good for the t case and rear diff though. I would stick with mt-90 or oem mitsu gear oil. Good luck with the build.:thumb:

i as well have a vr4. 975/1000 i would recommend diaqueen fluid for the trans. i noticed i shifted better with that than the mt90 i was running before.

Damn, and I just bought some...

Got a little more tear down done but mostly just organized stuff. To my surprise when I went down to the shop I noticed some body work was started for me. A good friend of mine that does body work swang by to put some work in on it for me. I gave him a bunch of Miata parts in exchange for his help when I was ready to start work on her!

Some photos of the clutch that was in there, flywheel and the screwed up pressure plate bolts as well!

I removed the valve cover to get a peak at the head. Its not gunked up so thats a good sign! Cant really tell in this photo but the regulator and the line on the pass side (feed, return? I forget) going into the fuel rail and just popped in there. There are no provisions on the rail for the OE parts to bolt into! Sketch as fuq and unsafe. Going back to OE rail, but on a positive note there are FIC 650cc injectors in there. Another score!

Small update:

So far I have only installed the shifting cables and put on the EVOIII O2 housing. I have mostly been working on getting her prepped for this weekend. A local friend and DSM'er is coming to help get this baby put back together. I think the fist plan of attack is getting the new trans in the car. Well, new rear main seal and resealing the oil pan first, then trans.

I think I have enough stuff to keep me occupied for a bit. Its a good thing too cause my wallet has taken a pretty good beating, gives me a chance to build the budget back up for phase 2.

How she sits as of right now:

New parts and messing with the turbo.

New EVOIII O2 housing and the modified stocker that was on there. It was pointing straight at the front cross member and ended 1/2 an inch above it.

Some updates:

Progress is still slow, I did manage to get the replacement trans and transfer case in. Im doing my best to not get overwhelmed with all the short cuts that were made on this car by previous owners. Trying to take on one thing at a time. The wires at the ECU have been hacked up pretty good by whoever installed the APEXIneo. When I was removing it from the harness most of the wires just fell off their solder joints, currently deciding on how to go about that fix. Most of the vacuum lines and associated parts are either not present or not hooked up, working on searching for vacuum diagrams.

My roomate started the tear down on the timing case, when he got the cover off there was no balance shaft belt to be found. Lots of gunk from the timing belt being carved by that pesky bolt. Hopefully getting this all this knocked out soon. Not moving any further till I have time to complete it from start to finish.
