I am looking for a good short route FMIC for my build. My build is going to be 500hp +. Also i want to keep my fog lights if possible. I know punishment racing you can keep your fogs. But i want a short route and also keep my fogs. I haven't found anything when i looked on here and Google and been looking for a good answer for a couple days. Thanks for any help. :thumb:

The vrsf kit does both and so does the ets. The vrsf I run with no problems and its cheap. The ets is top quality doesnt get better than that but it will cost you.

Ok cool i am looking to upgrade my turbo to and i think i know what FMIC i am going to get now. If i upgrade to a bigger turbo with a punishment racing I will be fine right? I am not sure what turbo i am getting yet though. I know i what to make 500hp and i am building a 2.3 stroker.

You'll be fine with either one.

I don't know if my vrsf or my buddies punishment kit will support 500hp or not, someone who is making that kind of power would need to chime in. The punishment kit on my buddies car has a little longer route piping but he has his fogs. His piping route is not longer than mine by much but it is longer. My core is 3.5" thick and I believe his was 3.0" thick. He hardly ever drives his car so we haven't done much comparing. I daily mine and I drive it pretty hard from time to time. I went to the track and did 19 passes with no issues whatsoever. I have been very happy with mine besides losing my fogs. Somewhere on here if I rember correctly someone made custom brackets to use fogs with their vrsf kit. My car has the mods in my profile and my buddies is basically stock. We've both been happy with our kits so far but we also aren't pushing crazy numbers yet. This is only my personal experience with the kit. Hope this helps.

Cool. On those can you keep fog lights? And are they both short route?

On most fmic kits the 95-96 fog lights get tossed because there is no room for them. The only kit that I've seen that had enough room for the 95-96 fogs is the greddy 18r or styles like it but I wouldn't push 500 hp with one of those

Alright cool. i have did a conversion 97-99 eclipse. I need to still paint the whole car but the conversion is done. Has stock fogs and stock head lights and the high rise wing on back now. I hope to keep the fogs when i buy a FMIC. I want to get punishment racing but i do like the VRSF FMIC. But i do want to keep the fogs.

PR kit is considered short route, although it's not quite as short as the VRSF kit. The PR kit also doesn't require any cutting of the rad support and is "said" to allow you to keep your fogs. As for either kit holding 500hp, I don't know. If I were you, I would check out the "DSM Dyno Challenge" page on the Members Tab and see what people running 500hp and over are using for a FMIC.

My car was just tuned/dynoed these past couple days. I have the VRSF kit for my 2GB. You cannot keep your fogs as the cold side piping runs directly behind the drivers side fog light. I didn't have any clearance whatsoever to keep my drivers fog light. the fog light is just too deep. i actually had to cut out some of the fog light housing on the backside to get it to clear.

As far as supporting hp, it does just fine. I made 547AWHP on a mustang dyno. thats almost 620hp on the street or a dynojet. Idk what the intake temps were, my tuner didn't tell me. i'm picking up the car saturday.

My FMIC is 28"x8"x3.5" Overall Size. It should be good for over 400HP.
I have kept my fog lights.

With the way the 2ga front bumper is, it is useless to put an FMIC that is more than 9" in height since half the IC will not be in direct air flow anyway. It will just heat sock. I would therefore focus on a thicker; something like a 4" IC (28"x8"x4"). Also the maximum core length you can fit in between the fog lights is 22".

With regards to short route piping, I just bought a kit off eBay. 2.5" and worked fine for me.

Just for reference, I have the VRS kit and I CANNOT keep the fogs.. However, Im a 2gb.. Perhaps the 2ga cars have different mounting locations. Im not sure. This kit uses the same mounts of the fogs in the 2gb cars. It kind of suck, Id really like to have my fog light.s

Ok cool. Thanks. I think i am going to buy a punishment racing FMIC. What do you have?

I bought it from a vendor on eBay and I am very happy with it. The one in my avatar is a 20"x11"x3" core, which is now replaced the 22x8x3.5" core. they are about the same size in volume but the 22 core has more surface area exposed to direct air flow, hence better cooling.

I am committed on keeping the 2ga bumper with the fog lights, so this was the best option for me. I am not sure if the 4" thick can fit in there, though.

Here is the 22x8x3.5" core looks like (28x8x3.5" Overall Size):

That kit don't look to bad earthier. I did a 97-99 eclipse conversion to my car though. I wonder how this looks on 97-99 models?
