Hahahaha.. You have been around this long enough. You put a full exhaust on and comply to the rules and see where the chips land.

I'll leave the DSE class to you guys, no way I'm taking my nicely set up frontline fab side exit off to run in it, I'll try and have some fun in Q16. It's all fun for me, as long as I can at least race at the shootout, I'm in good shape.

I am not worried about my 3300#+ Panzer tank whooping your 2000# can. You still trap nearly what I do, and I had a smoked cylinder head doing it for a couple years. The only way you will be faster is if I keep my car at home! ROFL!

Can't wait to see you up there dude! Always a great time hanging out!

Lol, good one! How about your light ass drive my car and put it into the 8s LOL.
But yeah very excited to hangout and do some racing!

60mm turbo versus 75mm? Your yacht NEEDS that airflow to run the same trap speeds! :p

Can't wait as well, Tim....had my reservation at BW for a while now- counting the months. :D

Exactly what I was thinking Jus!

Dave I weigh in at a whopping 5'4 150 lbs, Id gladly give it a shot! :sneaky:

I really dont mind the gtr class. Hell I enjoyed watching the few that were there last year. As long as they arent a bunch of D'bags. My shits better than yours blah blah, ya know? I guess we'll see how it goes.

I just know my junk wouldnt even be close to a fight in any class so Ill just stick with test n tune and cruisin around! Ive actually thought about trying out the Max effort class though!

If I lived in Michigan then I would gladly let you hitch a ride with me and the wife. Only problem is I live in Oklahoma and that would be way out of my way. LOL

Appreciate the thought:thumb:

Remind me as the date gets closer... will be coming form Chicago, so a ride may be possible. Depends on if we trailer the car there or not, since we use a regular cab truck for towing.

Thanks a lot for the offer. I don't want to impose in any way. I'll get in touch when the date gets closer. And who knows, maybe I'll have my 2g finished by then and my license back but I doubt it. Fingers crossed though:pray:

Beautiful car by the way. That is my favorite color and I wouldn't change it.:thumb:

This is just my opinion...

I do not run full exhaust on the street and it's completely legal in my state. I have over a 20 year old car that is tagged historic, and is completely legal in many states over a certain age. I have insurance and drive to the track, grocery store, shootout, ect.. Full interior, wipers, DOT approved tires.

Im down for letting people run side exit or open downpipe. I'm sure we all aren't going to agree with everything, but I don't think another 3' of piping is going to give anyone a real advantage. A LOT of people run like this on the street. Most people that run DSE run in FIS, and you do NOT need exhasut on a turbocharged car in FIS which is a street class. If your car is street driven, has tags, insurance, wipers, interior, not hacked all to peices, then why not allow it? Thats small stuff in my book.

Looks like the exhaust change isn't real popular so far, I'll keep checking back.

BTW, AMS is coming and has sponsored the GTR class, obviously good for the event.

I would be more impressed with watching Sheps DSM make a pass.

Ive seen Shep make more passes in a GTR than I have his talon. I do agree itd be awesome to see him make a killer pass in the 1g but his focus is more on the GTR platform now days.

Shep is excited to run his GTR, it just made 1200 whp.

That's cool especially since he has the money to do that. Wasn't there a 1000hp 300gt that wanted to run last year and wasn't aloud? It was at least still in the Mitsu familly. Just think it would be nice since its the DSM shootout it would be nice to see the DSMs that's drawn people to this event. At least we still people like Jeff Bush and Kiggly still standing by us for the real reason people are coming to this.

I was there for a heap of Talon passes including the 7.95 no-nitrous run.

I'll decide the day of the shootout what class I'm running in, may have to put full exhaust on, so I can hand out some woopins! :p

That is 100% incorrect about the 3000GT. He was there and was allowed to run, it was a Quick 16 car and competed in that class, actually.

Speaking of 3000GT's, they aren't nor have they ever been DSM's. They are AWD and V6 twin turbos and have always been allowed to run the event. Fact is their following always sucked, only a few have ever showed up. There even use to be a 3/S Class but the turn out was so bad it was dropped. Last year it wa decided since a few fast guys were suppose to show up with drag cars we'd actually allow the V6 AWD to run in the Quick Class against the 4G63 cars. Guess what happened? One showed, he didn't win, the 4G63's did.

Another bit of information, there's not a GTR quicker or faster than the quickest and fastest DSM that shows up each year at the Shootout, so I don't see much difference (other than a name plate) when comparing it to the 3/S platform that's always been able to run.

Seems there are some misc. panties in a bunch for no real reason to me.

I was on the fence, but at the end of the day I'm ok with it. I like watching fast cars roll down the track. Plus, this isn't the first time a new class has been tried with another platform. If it fails it'll disappear, if not we'll have another class to watch. Also as for personalities, at least at my local track I've had good dealings with the GTR owners.

On another note, I want to thank Dave for trying out the DST class for a couple years. It started out promising and fell off (as he predicted). It was fun for the two years I ran, although I of course was not competitive.

I think for those who are now on the fence about going because of a handful of GTRs, whom also have never been to shootout, maybe stay the hell home then since your going to get all boogerlipped about an event you've never even physically supported. I've been going for 8 years now and a couple GTRs among hundreds of 4g63 vehicles will not change any part of the event for me. Like David said, where was all the bitching about TNT cars? If you're that butthurt about adding another AWD platform to the event, maybe walk the pits or shoot the shit with some fellow dsm'ers while they are making there runs. I'm all for anything to keep the event big and strong as ever. It will NOT BE LIKE some random Honda/rotary shitshow they put on all Over the country. The comradary of community will not change, it's still our event. Just my .02

Big thanks for those last two posts!

I agree, the overall event and comradery of the event is not going to change. If the GTR class is big then I intend to drop or limit the entries to the test and tune, so some of the "crap" that runs now will be eliminated all together. I'd personally rather have all Mitsubishi's and GTR's than some random pick up trucks, V8 Camaro's, motorcycles, Hondas etc. running. If it looks like there is going to be a big GTR turn out I will cancel the test and tune class before the event even gets here. That will cut the event down to just Mitsubishi/GTR and I like that better than how it has been in the past with the random Test and Tune cars.

+1 to this. I have never been before but this will be my first and most definately not my last year of going, and im looking forward to seeing it.

Lol I better see some consistent 8 sec passes... I'm already 100 whp more powerful through the auto than last year and took even more weight off it. Should be a fast class next year but I am going to try my hardest to reclaim the title.

John don't get me wrong I really like what you have built and enjoyed watching you last year but myself and a handful of others discussed your two power adders in DSE class and all agree. Most races don't allow two power adders for street classes and the classes that allow two power adders can use any twin turbo, supercharger or either with the aide of nitrous. By no means am I taking away what you are doing to not use nitrous but I feel if you can run two power adders then it should be a Q16 car or nitrous should be allow with obvious weigh restricts or other restrictions.

What are you talking about?? John is a compound turbo auto AWD on all boost. He falls in class rules.

Two turbos is still just boost, not two power adders. If you run a V6 or V8 with twin turbos, you wouldn't call that two power adders. Nitrous is a whole other power adder that goes above and beyond boost.

If you feel some boost is good, and more must be better, than I'm sure you are welcome to double your intake pressure and see what that gets you.
