Alright i was on my way home the other night i had to stop at the store as i was looking for a parking spot i ran through this huge ass puddle. My car stalled and i tried to start it (stupid i know) but it only gave like a click.:banghead: So i got a ride home and came back to pull my plugs and try cranking it to get the water out. After pulling the plugs It did the same thing, just a click. So after putting the plugs back in, I had my brother tow me home with his truck. It was only about a 2 mile drive and in that time my battery completely died. I thought that was kinda strange to die that fast. Ive read alot about hydrolocking, but i feel like there could be an electrical issue.

If it helps i have a 98 eclipse spyder gs, and it has a cold air intake on it.

Sounds like you have a short, or a bad connection on your battery. Charge your battery, check connections on battery and starter, and see what happens.

Check for loose connections, loose or damaged wires. Also check all your fuses to help isolate the issue. It definitely sounds like an electrical issue.

Was there any water actually pulled into the engine? Did your maf take any water? Did it die immediately?

Yeah sounds like you just bridged two connections as the ions in the water acted as one giant wire and shorted you out. Hopefully you didn't do too much damage, but you should try swapping out the battery if you don't find any visible frying or burning of components/wires.

yeah sound like short. i had this happen to my 3g eclipse. same thing drove into deep puddle and cold air intake sucked it all up. i even tried starting it after it stalled like you. normaly you just pull the plugs like you said, turn it over get the water out and change the oil and plugs. i let it sit for a day and dryout a little.

It died like halfway through and i rolled out. I didnt try starting it in the water. Im gonna check my connections and fuses today!

What do you think i should check electrical wise? maybe the starter?
If so how do i remove it? sorry, dont know a whole lot about working on these

Phunny, yeah i have a cold air intake.
How can i crank it by hand? i have the 4g64 by the way.
I appreciate the help

Not 100% sure f this is what you're asking but to just turn the motor over stick a ratchet on the ctank bolt and turn clockwise.

Sorry im kind of a noob. LOL. To get to the crank, i have to remove the timing cover, correct?

no - 1/2 inch socket wrench or breaker bar fits right in the end of the bottom pulley.

So just a 1/2 inch on the crank pulley, clockwise im quessing.
Also, how do i identify the crank pulley? Sorry for the stupid questions. Im just making sure,

Well about a week ago i stalled in a big puddle. Pulled the plugs to crank the water out, and it only gave one single click. Thats all it will do. And now im trying to see if my motor seized by hand cranking it. Im hoping not a whole lot of water got up the cold air intake.

yea turn your wheel all the way left and look in the frame is almost knotched so you can do this its the pulley you can see straight in their.

Yeah either turn the wheel or remove the driver side tire and when you look behind it will be starring right at you
