Hello, My name is Alex.
My project car is a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi Turbo AWD.

OVERALL PLANS FOR THE CAR

My number one goal for this car is a "mint" condition car. I want it to look as if it were driven off the show room floor in 1990 and landed in my apartment parking lot in 2013. Far-fetched? Maybe. Especially because I live in an apartment and insist on doing everything humanly possible myself. Although Im going for a mostly "clean stock" look, a nice set of wheels and some tasteful upgrades are among my plans as well. Oh and lets not forget 450-500awhp on e85.:D

Ive been working on this car for two years now and up until now haven't had a build thread. In the next few days I will try to get you guys up to speed with my progress so far. Bear with me as far as the pics go. I had a bunch of pics of the condition of the car when I first bought it, but I accidentally deleted most of them, so descriptions along with borrowed pics (moderators: if that is allowed) will have to suffice.

Ok, here are a few pics taken of the car a couple months ago. It basically shows what the car looked like the day I got it minus the fmic and exhaust.

Looks like a nice project car man, I hope your plans come through. Show us the build progress.:)

Oh, and I wish i could get E85 here :/

The car smoked like a freight train when I first cranked it up. It smoked so severely I was amazed it actually idled. On the bright side I think I knocked a big dent in the local mosquito population.

Anyways, I pulled the head and had it rebuilt at a local machine shop. The guy that had the car before me had attempted to rebuild the head himself but didn't install the valve seals correctly.

No head job is completed without a Cometic hg and ARPs.

Lol, +1 on the rims. Really clean car though!

Thanks guys! The chicks really dig my wheels too:cool:

Before I reach my horsepower goal, I first wanted to make sure I could stop. I researched several upgrade options. Ive always loved the 3kgt vr4 calipers because of their effectiveness and ease of installation. I found a complete kit from RTM racing.

I love getting new packages in the mail...so exciting...

I was planning on getting the Brembo slotted rotors with this kit, however upon checkout I realized that Canadian shipping is a HECK of a lot more expensive than the US of A. Cost me 127 bucks for shipping! So I decided to get the econo rotors for the meantime and get slotted rotors later.

The kit I purchased came with 13.1" Cobra rotors, Re-manufactured 4kgt vr4 4 piston calipers, mounting brackets, hub centric rings and all necessary bolts and hardware.

Size comparison. Also, these rotors are freakin HEAVY.

Installation was a breeze. I was surprised...there's always that "one bolt" that breaks or gets stuck or something...not this time. Please overlook my cool anodized blue pulley.

WHEELS

Ok, for all you haters hatin on because you are jealous of my car's bling factor.

Close up of the bling. Better put your sunglasses and spf15 on.
POW!! In your face!!!

Although I hated having to part with such a nice set of rims, they wouldn't fit with my brake kit.

After looking over hundreds of wheels and trying to decide what I liked and what would look good on the car I came across the Velox Apex rims. They aren't the most performance set by any means, but I fell in love with them. I whipped up a professional quality picture to get an idea of what they would look like on the talon. Other than my nun chuk skills, ladies love my photoshop skills.

18x8 Velox Apex rims wrapped in Falken Ziex tires. These wheels are stunning. They are hyper silver, but for some reason they look almost bronze in the pic. I think it was a combination of lighting vs my living room walls being a beige color. Dunno???

My biggest concern in wheel selection was clearance with the calipers. I read on RTM's website that "design" of the wheel has more to do with clearance than the offset. It was close, but they clear beautifully!:thumb:

The car came with a big 16g turbo when I got it. The guy I bought it from told me he had recently rebuilt the turbo. Keep in mind he had also rebuilt the head, which didn't turn out so great. I wasn't taking any chances.

My original plan was an HX-35, but I decided to stick with a mitsubishi turbo and sent my turbo off to JusMX141 to be rebuilt properly. I asked him to upgrade the compressor wheel to a 20g wheel. It arrived well packaged and looked practically brand new.

I got a great deal on a 2g turbo manifold and ported it to fit the 7cm2 gasket. I then hit it with a coat of high heat silver paint.

I installed a VR speed fmic and SRS catback exhaust shortly after getting the car. Sadly I don't have any pics of the actual installation.

Here are some pics of the intercooler kit with an HKS bov(came on the car when I got it).
I was very impressed with the VR fmic kit. It arrived well packaged and required some minor trimming of the frame to make it work. The front bumper also required some trimming. I chose this kit over the PR kit for the simple fact that I wanted to keep my fogs. I did have to grind down the fog brackets about and 1/8th of an inch to avoid them rubbing the intercooler core.

Nice progress. Have you gotten to test out the new brake set up? I was debating on going either vr4 or evo brembos myself. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! Haven't had a chance to test them yet. Still waiting on a few parts but Im hoping to get the car road worthy in the next few weeks. Ill update once Im able to drive it. Ive read to get the best results with 4 pot calipers you need up upgrade the master cylinder to a bigger bore unit. That is next on my list. Evo or vr4s are both good setups.
