First set a goal with the car, research other people's builds, do maintenance before upgrading parts also get a tuning device as dsmlink should be the very first mod .

Make sure to do the maintenance on the car 1st.

What are your power goals? You going to be doing the work yourself?

Look into ECMlink (DSMlink) with a wideband LC1
once you get link, then look into FIC 1150cc injectors, or bigger if you want to run E85.
FMIC, you got some choices, I like my PR FMIC
If you upgrade your cams, you probably want to upgrade, valves, springs, guides,

You know I asked myself the same question when I got my 98. This was my answer. :D and this doesn't include the LARGE amount of work already done this is just upgrades and maintenance.

Seriously though the guys got it right. MAINTENANCE FIRST.
While doing that READ EVERYTHING you can.
I believe I spent almost 8 months just reading and learning, the pay off is worth it. Either way welcome to the DSM Community, Keep it clean and Enjoy.

thanks for the help guys heres the story onmy car. i work at a large body shop with a mech side aswell. the car came in with a blown head gasket and we did the timing belt waterpump headgasket and pretty much made it to a good reliable car for the owner(suspension, ect). the owner couldnt afford the labor so my boss took the title. i payed 3000 for it all leather mint 98,000 miles with eneki rims. one of are mechs is a huge evo guy and turned me to this site because of my lack of knowledge on the dsm. my goal for this car is to have a very fun amount of power but still keep it reliable and easy to drive daily. so thats a little about my car so you know what im working with... thanks again -josh

I have a tubular manifold and a stage 2 clutch pm for details!!! And also read every little thing you can for our cars you will learn a lot of stuff that you never would of thought of!!!! And proper maintance is critical for our cars, hint why a lot of them aren't around anymore or are in poor condition due to lack of care and maintance
