Okay I am new to DSM I have my 95 TSI not many mods. But cruising down the road at about 60 or so I run about 240 degrees on my temp gauge I have a digital temp gauge thats fairly new and same brand oil one and its accurate. but it doesn't show signs of overheating runs just normal fans seem to kick in about normal time but it just keeping climbing to 240 and stays steady there unless getting in boost or pulling up a hill. I am really unsure of what could cause this. I don't have coolant loss and there is no mixing of the fluids. I have the temp sensor for the gauge right at the water neck where it comes from the turbo and the block in the stock location. Am I freaking out but this just doesn't seem right I think 210 is about the right temp.
I need help fast due to this being my daily driver.

Guys now at idle it runs.normal. but when I accelerate. Its halfway between red hot and.normal its nit getting super hot but I'm still worries; should I change the thermostat again; I just replaced it under 1k miles ago

If that's your rig in your avatar, your licence plate could be the culprit with it hanging down halfway into the air stream - acting like an air dam pushing air away from the radiator....since you mention that it's fine during idle.

Do this test: Take it off, or raise it up and see what happens.

Also, if you got an FMIC, it could be soaking up some of the intake air and not enough is getting to the radiator. Might have to install a fan in front of the FMIC to push air through....like a booster fan.

Good luck - DSM

Well here's the thing, I don't have to be moving for it to heat up. The engine just has ro bevabove idle for a little bit. Once it goes to idle, the temp goes back down. Could this have anything to do with the thermostat? When I pulled it out to flush the cooling system it has some weird black sandy shit on it.

No I haven't done anything like that. I was just driving around and the temp stayed normal. I'm so confused. Im having someone diagnose it on Thursday. I can update you guys if you'd like.

Did you end up finding what the issue was? Im running very hot as well. New OE t-stat, wp was done about 1500m ago along with the engine. I ended up installing a turbo blanket over the exhaust housing and it helped but if I get on it, or eventually the temp just climbs. I have to pull over, pop the hood and idle it for it to come down. I'm going to try some of these suggestions. We'll see what happens.
