I got all my timing marks lined up easily even with the difficulty of fighting compression, but now i have a new problem with the special tool I bought from Jay racing. At first, it would not even go in correctly, but then i looked at the angle of most others and it turns out that I could not use the hole with the rubber plug for the special tool to get it to screw into the mount. I just pushed the timing backside-cover back and it finally threaded in, BUT, now even with the tensioner pulley center bolt really loose it won't do anything. It has not even budged the damn auto tensioner... I am almost to the point where I want to take it off the car and compress it with a c-clamp,:coy::sosad: Any help or XP is appreciated (why is the simplest shit so damn difficult with my car?)

FYI Its a 6 bolt

**I just read somewhere that this tool doesn't work with 6bolt swapped 2gs, does anyone here confirm this?**

****Thanks for the help guys, that was quick, you guys rock****

The hole should line up to the threaded hole in the engine mount bracket. If it doesn't line up then there's something wrong. Recheck your assembly! When you push in the plunger, push slow, or you will damage the tensioner.

If you need to turn the engine to line up the timing marks, pull out the spark plugs first. If you're fighting to turn an engine with the timing belt off, then you are risking damage to your valves.

It's probably a safer bet to just pull it off (12mm bolts) and compress it manually. I've had a 6 bolt swapped 2g and that same tool didn't work for me either.

That's what I figured..., but will the t belt just come off with it too? I already loosened up the pulley center bolt

Yea, I have no idea why it doesn't line up, but I didn't build the engine so :(. However, at least what I am gathering is that the tool doesn't work for 6bolt 2gs. I will move very slowly when compressing the tensioner with a c clamp or vice.

You can't use that tool with the six bolt swap, the engine mount doesn't match up with the tensioner. You have to take it off and compress (but looks like you got it done).
