ive been doing some research and it seem thats the people say the new ticket for the 20g for fast spool and top end is to do a 20g with downfiring compressor cover with tdo6h on a 6cm turbine housing but the thing that is confusing me is that they are putting a tdo6h turbine wheel on a heavily ported 6cm housing? what performance gains will this net though. i know u will get fast spool up but what happens to the top end??

i was planning on using a 11 blade extended tip billet 20g compressor wheel on a 3inch compressor cover. but was wondering what would be a better combo for power and torque for the hot side. My HP goal is 450 to the wheel on a AWD but with the fastest spool possible.

will the tdo6h on 6cm really get me there with the fastest spool or should i go a different route for the hot side

Its seems to me with a smaller hot side on the turbo it would be choking the turbo off up top. Why do you think that FP doesn't run a 6cm hot side? I would recommend at least a 7cm if not an 8cm with a goal like 450awhp.

I agree that the smaller housing would choke out the top end and doubt 450 would be possible. Although its not something I would do, I have considered the idea of this type of setup. I don't know if anyone has tried this, but it might be possible to keep the quick spool without losing as much on the top end by using two large exhaust manifold mounted wastegates like in a twin scroll setup. Its just a theory and I have not heard or read of anyone trying it. It would cost a lot of money and probably be too much low end for traction on a manual trans. It would be cheaper to go with a higher stall converter with an auto. So the idea doesn't seem practical to me. Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

I run a standard mhi 7cm housing on my 20g there really isn't any lag and she pulls hard all the way to redline

Is there any numbers on the 6cm housing with the 06h? I have the 06h and 8cm housing and was wondering if the 6cm would be better for the street.

I doubt it. Trying to stuff a 06h wheel in a 6cm housing would be like trying to eat a grapefruit in one bite. Its point less, for cost wise.

I just picked up a Rebuilt Bastard 20g TDO5 MHI, 7cm Ported Turbine Housing, with an anti surge compressor housing. I'm hoping to get near 400 whp on pump gas with it. Any suggestions:hmm:??

It's not a Bastard 20G if it has an anti-surge compressor cover. "Bastard 20G" was a name Slowboy gave to a turbo they built a long time ago which had a standard TD05H j-pipe style compressor cover and a TD06H turbine.

Not going to be easy, especially with the ported compressor cover which robs peak compressor efficiency in exchange for surge protection.

Thanx for the knowledge on that Mine doesn't need a J-pipe from what i'm told, but now if I port the Evo 3 housing, & The exhaust Manifold. Do lets see.... a 38mm wastedgate to the atmosphere & upgrade my injectors & fuel system setup. Would that help a bit:pray:.

Porting the turbine housing will only add a significant gain if your porting is done before the wastegate hole and you're running a lower boost level. At high boost levels the wastegate is barely open so more exhaust is flowing through the housing...and the housing a/r is what controls turbine flow. No level of porting will ever change the housing's a/r ratio.

Same goes for the wastegate- all it's doing is controlling boost. You stand to gain no power from a larger versus a smaller wastegate.

So I would have to port the Exhaust Manifold then since it comes before the wastegate but what if the wastegate is mounted on the exhaust manifold & the Evo 3 O2 housing is non ported?
