First time I've seen fender flares on a 2g

In that case.....:thumb: if he could do a more flush look that would be awesome, i really don't like the bolt holes, too "off roadie" for me.

I agree, One of the greatest appeals of our DSMs are the clean lines and sultry curves. It is a shame to put the bolt holes on the outside.

Also how do we achieve a 15+ offset. Would that be with spacers or with a specific rim? Either way wouldn't that much of an offset negatively impact the performance and handling of the car?

Wider is better to reduce roll, and hypothetically reduce fishtail, but that is just theory. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Offset is totally dictated by the wheel, or the wheel and spacer.

The rest of the questions you have asked are dependent on tread compound, damper valving, spring rate, etc.

I'm definitely doing this to my 97 gsx too. Please link us with the exact fender flares that were purchased I need these ordered by this week before it goes into body shop.

Thanks all!

I haven't installed them yet but once I do I'll be sure to take some pics for you guys ;)

Here's the link I got the fender flares from

would love to see how your kit would fit... please update as with pictures! hehe

Im in for a set of these bad boys, though im not sure how they will look on silver. Im running 17x9 RPF1's +35 offset and i need spacers to clear my BBK up front. However, i poke out like crazy!

Hi everyone, my name is Allen and I own the car that you guys are talking about. I have been a "lurker" :) on this forum for a long time now. I have been using my friends account to browse the forums and get some ideas. I "semi" customized those flares on the car myself. Those pictures of the flares on facebook and nasoic are about 90% done. I painted them with plasti dip temporarily because my friend wanted me to bring my car to one of the car meets in my area(wheels and meals). I am in the process of painting my car and shaping the flares right now (more arch on the flares and finish off the section where the gas tank door is located).

I just started working on my car again and these flares and rims are the most recent project that I have done.

Anyway, Thank you for all the kind comments.

The tire/wheel specs are Enkei Rpf1s 18x10.5 wrapped in Hankook RS3 265/35/18

The pictures attached are some of the old pictures that I took.

Really nice car ajstrinidad. have a question though. did you made any adjustments on your OEM fenders (cut, grind, pulled) or did you just raised your car's ride height to avoid tire rubbing and placed your flares lower to delete the fender gap? im interested doing this here in the Philippines with my own car. hehe. thanks!!

This is what I have come up with so far.

I have made 3 different ones, the 2g is very difficult, since it has very nice lines and flares seem to brake that continuity.

Dont know how to link to my last posts on my thread on the road race build journal, (98 Talon Tsi road racer).

If you have any comments feel free to ask.

I know I'm always anxious to see your updates. You are doing awesome things with the fiberglass.

The rears look pretty good, I know appearance isn't the primary concern but perhaps a wider base on the fender with a more gradual slope on the flare would be more appealing.

Will you be using a design similar to this on the front, since you mentioned not using this one?

A lot more work, but if you could remold the 'glass for the fender with a more gradual flare incorporated in it all as one piece it might look better. The 2Gb Talon body lines are more difficult to modify and make it look coherent than the 2Gb Eclipse, but IMO it's worth it.

Once you finalize the design I'm sure you could turn a nice profit by making copies to sell here. There are several 2Gb Talons out there (including mine) that would love to be able to no-poke a set of 255-275s.

Thank you very, very much, I was very upset at myself for not being able or knowing how to make the link.

These front ones I will not be using, since they dont come out enough to cover the wider tires and rims that I will be using, I understand what you are saying about a gradual slope and I am sure it would look better, these we will use in another project, I can maybe modified the mold later on but they do look pretty good.

For the front I plan on using these same rears and they would have to sit a little higher on the fender, maybe I can slope those a little more like you suggest,
I can do a lot with the fiber but I am very bad at body work and working with bondo, these front ones will be a combo of the two.

These could go lower or higher on the body depending on tire size, I placed mine lower due to the small tire size I want to use.

If you can look up the ones I was going to use first, and place the link here it would be nice, since on those I was going to add 4 inches on the top and make it a little wider body, the reason I am not using those is that I am trying to make the pieces so they can be used on both cars and they have different track dimensions.

It is update 18 and post 148.

All of them are in a rough state since I am trying to see how they work on both cars.

Again thanks

That looks so mean its evil...I love it!!! Id love to do this to my spyder but the bolts on the outside to mount them properly. That kinda kills it for me!!! Before I would need play my with coil overs to make the wheels stick out with out rubbing the fender. Get some extended wheel studs maybe the spacers, then flares..........+ the wheel alignment to ensure smoothness.

Ps new tires purchased like a month ago -_-

Hi guys, I know its been awhile since I last posted but I just want to give you an update on my redesigned flares. I took everyone's positive and negative opinion about the flares that I made and made a new one from scratch. Hopefully, this time around, you guys will like it.

Definitely mean as hell. Did you use different flares or just modify the ones you had.

I did not buy the flares and modify them, i actually made them from scratch. I actuall shaped the flares, made a mold out of it, and made fiberglass pieces from my mold. It was a bit time consuming since I am just an amature. It was scary and frustrating at first. But when I made my first mold, I got some confidence to finish the other three flares.

Any chance for a write-up? I'd love to rock something like this :hellyeah:

Flares look great - major vote for the Guzzi though !!
