As stated in the maintenance guide, the very last thing is to call your Local Mitsu dealer and make sure the ball joints have been replaced due to a recall on them. I did this, and they told me there was no recall on the car what so ever. Could it have been because it has been to long? I'm assuming that after so many years they retract the recall assuming everyone has more than likely replaced theres, just want to make sure so I can check it off my list!

I've personally looked at a few sites, that do recalls. None for ball joints on the 2G. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong places.

Try running these numbers past the dealer to see if it wakes them up:

NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 00V421001
NHTSA Action Number: RQ00015

I'm not saying that I'm sure that the recall is truly still in effect, but any quick Google on the above will show them that there was a recall at some point.

If you have the slightest doubt about the condition of the ball joints on the car, get underneath and inspect. It's certainly worth the time to make sure the boots arent blown out or the bushings arent rotted out.
