What's up guys, I'm new here. I currently drive a 1992 Corvette coupe M6 and I live in (and go to college in) Massachusetts. Needless to say, the winter here sucks and my Corvette doesn't like it too much :(

For next winter I'm thinking of getting a DSM as a second car. My brother drives a 420A Eclipse (surprisingly fast for a NA 4-cyl!), however, I want something with the legendary 4G63T and it must be AWD.

I know a little bit about DSMs but not much; help me out here. What are my options for 4G63-powered cars with AWD? The obvious ones would be 1G/2G Eclipses/Talons, and a 1G Laser, but what else is there?

Thanks in advance,

- Vinnie

Here in the U.S. our only options are pretty much the 1g/2g eclipse gsx/talon tsi awd as well as the Galant Vr-4. Of course you could get an evo 8/9 with the 4g63t, but it will obviously be much more expensive.

Well thats it what else do you think is here 1g 2g dsm all kinds of platforms pick one. Look awd eclipse, laser and talon, thats it.

buying a 1g and doing it up can get expensive and most half decent 1gs are gonna be 3k and up. 2gs lightly modded are fairly easy to come by.

id say avoid a 90 if you like the 1gs like i do. i have one and sometimes its difficult with it being the first model year. if you work on the car yourself, go on ebay and invest in whatever year you get service manual. i have the chilton and its horsecrap compared to the OEM manual.

welcome to the group!

I can't answer your question on what else is there. Being a big chevy guy car guy here myself (92 convertable camaro w/78mm turbo on a 383LT1)
I'll say I love my '90 awd tsi as a daily driver. It has Bolt ons mods , waiting for a 16g turbo now.

I think an awd dsm would be great in the winter up north.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll probably end up with a 2G eclipse/talon because they're easier to come across. Which are more reliable, 1G or 2G's? I know the 7-bolt motors can crank walk, but is that really all that common?

When it comes down to it I would go with anything with a 6 bolt. I prefer the 1g but a 2g with a 6bolt swap would be just as good IMO
