A couple of threads here on tuners claim that I can replace just the balljoints on my 2G control arms.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/handling-tech/200833-upper-control-arm-ball-joint-replacement.html

Reason is I don't want to buy a new set of urethan bushings everytime I replace a control arm. Unfortunately I can't use any part number mentioned in different threads because there is no store like autozone in Europe, so can anybody tell me the balljoint measurements (diameter, length etc)?

Every service manual I have come across specifies to replace the entire arm. I just went out and bought a MOOG arm from Oreillys or Advanced.

EDIT

Just realized you are asking for measurements...my bad.

Unfortunately I do not have my arm available to measure

Can I simply remove the urethan bushings from a broken control arm and use them in new ones?

Just wondering because I want to order a set and replace my old rubber bushing. But I don't want to throw the urethan bushings away when replacing the control arms due to balljoint failure. So the "easiest" would be to keep the complete old control arm including new urethan bushings and just replacing the balljoints.... it seems to be easy with a press, so I just need some specs on the balljoints I can use for that.

What kind of urethane bushings do you have?

I used energy suspensions in the front arm but used the stock bushing on the shock mount. I don't see any problem with swapping the bushings from one arm to another.

I also agree with just replacing the whole arm instead of trying to swap out just the ball joint. Although I would like to see a machined arm with an actual designed replaceable ball joint made some time.

IF your urethane bushing has a metal sleeve and you can press it out without destroying it, then I dont see why you couldnt re use it. As far as replacing the ball joint, I think they were made as a whole arm intentionally, you may not find a suitable replacement for it.

Well I found a Dorman control arm that looks like its balljoint is replacable.

Unfortunately there is no lower control arm with that kind of replaceability :(

I do not own any bushing kit by now but plan to buy one soon since my balljoints seem to become noisy.
