Alright so I just had a new engine put in and my power steering belt fell off and got shredded so I was driving with no power steering up to the store to get a new battery cause this ones beat. So I put the battery in and my battery light is on but I think nothing of it. So I continue to drive around the rest of the day(this is the first day I got my car back) and later on that night my srs light comes on and my rpms and speedometer drop to zero and then like a minute later my spark plugs get cut out so I shut it off. Try to start and nothing happens no crank nothing. I waited a bit and tried again and it started. I drove for like 2 minutes and same thing happened. So it starts up but it's like it thinks it's stolen or something and shuts it down. Anybody know what's going on here? Thanks in advance.

Is your car throwing a code or anything?? I would start with checking the alternator, and all connections such as ground and power wires!

You popped a fuse. Probably the alternator one. The battery light came on because the alternator wasn't charging. The SRS light came on when the battery voltage dropped too low. Then the gauges cut out next. Finally there want enough power for the ECU to function so it shut down.

Ok that's makes sense if it's not that then I'm gonna check the alternator. I didn't get a chance to do it today. It's still sitting on the side of the road LOL.

The fuses check out good so I'm guessing it's the alternator cause I put a new battery in and it works.

Well remove the alternator and take it to an autoparts store to be tested or if it's close enough, drive the car there and have them test it while the engine is running.

Turns out when the power steering belt blew it took out the alt. belt
