I finally made it to the track to get the car dialed in with the built auto. Im very pleased to say the least with the results. My first pass without messing with the boost curve was 10.95@138. For some reason my fourcedfour shift box was making the 2-3 shift at 5500rpm which was killing the car mid track. I made another pass with it shifting for me and went 10.6@139 turning the boost up but still shifted early. The 3rd pass I disabled the auto upshift and that worked a lot better. I didn't let it build enough boost at the line and cut a crappy 1.9 60ft but still managed a 10.5@141. My last pass I turned the boost up more and sat on the 2step for a little which worked out very well. It still left soft and never spun which is good but I was able to cut a 1.71 which is way better than any other 60ft I cut. As I shifted into 3rd the battery light came on but my wideband was holding steady so I stayed in it. I ended up with a 10.2@141.

I just did the saturn alternator swap which never really worked as well as I hoped. This alternator is done though. The plastic cover popped off which is weird. Anyways, since I work out of state 6 months out of the year this will probably be the last runs till next September but Im extremely happy with the car now. I have a build thread with some history of the car and what not- http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/dsm-build-journals/423859-1995-10-sec-fwd-build.html

Here is the time slip and videos.

This video is pretty bad but oh well it's better than nothing. I wanna say thanks to Vinny (945liter/krustydsm) Cole (Cjuice) and Kevin who I don't think is on the forums for helping me out at the track.

Great pass and mph for an auto hx40!

Let me and krusty borrow the car while your out of town for a 9 second pass or two :).

Good shit, I'm glad jdmtube got some video of it.

Wow, thats a good ET for that mph on a FWD. Are you on legit slicks now or QTP's?

Thanks. Im on m/t 26x8.5x15 slicks now with weld 15x8 rims. I really never spun all 4 passes. I kept turning the boost up sooner and it just kept going faster LOL. If the alternator didn't die, I would have cranked the boost up higher in 1st to see if I could cut a better 60' and go a little faster. Overall I am extremely pleased and surprised as to what it did. Even the hx40 new it was going to be a good pass on the last run cause it spiked 45lbs LOL.

As far as going faster it's going to be in the 60'. There is no more power to be made on this setup other than leaning on the tune a little bit which I don't feel like doing. I drive the car to and from the track so if it blows, I have to tow it home like last night when the alternator died. The A/Fs are low 11s high 10s which is a little too rich but it still pulls clean.

Ya its in the 60' for sure. I love seeing all these new FWD dsms laying down good times.

What trans are you running fwd or awd converted??

Richard, The alternators plastic cap is something i've gotten use to having them fall off on the chevy alt's... there's a few things you can do from making a small sheet metal gaurd (i can make you one if you'd like) or header wrap the down pipe close to the alternator, but i find that the only thing i've been able to kill one wiht so far has been oil from a popping dipstick and leaking valve cover, but other than that i'm very happy with mine, ar eyou sure some wiring didn't ocme undone or get hooked up wrong (or even too manywires to something)

ove the runs, makes me fiend for an auto!!

Is this the same car that had problems with the tranny downshifting at random? If so, im glad your back and running!

So close to the 9's hope you get to run again before ya leave

Thanks man but I wont be making anymore passes until October probably. I want have this alt situated and some other little things that I just don't have time for.

Ill get it down there. Its a FWD tranny built by ATF (Automatic Transmission Factory)

Thanks Glen I was hoping you would respond. If it's not too big of deal I would love a sheet metal guard! Ill pm you about it. I was pushing oil out of the dipstick for the first time so maybe oil got on it and killed it.

The car weighs 2600 without me in it with a full tank of gas.

This is the same car that downshifted and blew up everything LOL

Thanks for all the positive feedback building a FWD car is much more of a pain in the a** then an AWD LOL

great! nice to see you getting closer and closer to the 9s :hellyeah:

ya man. As close as it may seem, I'm still pretty far away LOL. If i could get the 60ft into the high 1.5 or low 1.6 but I have never even came close to those times. This was the first time out with the auto so Im still learning. The launch was pretty soft and it kept going faster as I kept turning it up. I kept trying to find that point where it was too much power too soon but never found it. My alternator decided to die instead LOL
