So I believe I do have a crank walking '98 7 bolt block. I've gone through 2 crank position sensors in two months also randomly while only making left hand turns the clutch will slip.
So obviously I start searching for a 6 bolt short or long block. I come across a gentleman about 3 hours away that had a fuel rail leak which turned into a fire. Luckily he had means to put it out relatively quick. The wiring harness, vacuum lines, spark plug wires and all other plastic objects from the firewall up to the block are gone. The head looks great, intake manifold doesn't look so good, upper timing belt is melted along with the timing belt. Not sure about the CAS yet, but basically all solid metal parts of the head are in working order with a little but of cleaning. The short block didn't take any damage at all. From the tranny to the pulleys, everything is in great shape.
He told me for $180 I can come anything and everything out of the engine I want. BOV, SMIC, anything.
Good deal?? (Also I won't be using the head at all, I'll be going the 2G head 1 G block route)
