Amazing build. I hope to some day have an engine bay as beautiful as this one. Keep up the great work
Dan

Hater? LMFAO Please. This kid is where I was 15 years ago. I've had my NHRA 9 sec licence since 2001. For atleast 4 years, every winner of the World Fold Challenge had something my Mig or Tig touched on it. I could fill this forum with 7 and 8 second cars that I have personally had a hand in. But, I don't have an elitist attitude.

But, Carry on.

The "Raven" never ran. he sold the shell. Guys make these huge build threads like the famous no compromise one and they never end up getting finished.

Dont know the outcome of this one, but it seems people spend too much on trying to make it look good or be different and never finish it.

I sent you a text, we'll hook up this upcoming week hopefully and get to work on your harness too.

:ohdamn:

I guess I can lower my intelligence level to try to communicate with you best I can. As far as fabrication goes that is by trade. I'm an Architectural Engineer in the sheetmetal union. I don't believe I said anything about welding up anything more than a few mounts, bolt holes or cages in past cars. LOL? Are you confused as to what you're talking about?

As far as builds, the Lightning that you saw at the beginning of the thread is done. The F100 had a lightning 5.4 (Pulled from previous lighting when it went built) not a 4.6 cobra motor and the Jeep is a project I hoped into after I finally went with my neighbor (the one who welded the diff) to a couple trails and had a blast, always wanted one so I why not.

The Raven was never built out of a storage unit. At that point in time I had 8 cars so 3 were in storage. I can assure you it wasn't built in a storage unit:

3558975935_21af9e33b6_z.jpg

I dunno about where you live but here we call "storage lockers" that are over 5000sqft with tools and lifts a SHOP. (ROFL this is why I don't understand why people say stupid sh*t without facts when its so easy to rebuttal?) I have a few more projects planned and as soon as I find platforms I'll be looking into them. Always wanted to shove a 4G into a early 70s 240z and once I sell this car I want to really grab another Euro.

I like building projects and thats what I do, I go through cars like a fat kid through a box of donuts. If you can, why not? I don't build for anyone's approval nor do I understand why some people feel their opinions or their very existence is important enough to brow beat me as to how to operate or dictate what I do on my own time with my money LOL. If people could afford multiple projects, they would, I have automotive ADD and no one knows what the future holds so I am having fun for as long as I am blessed to do so.

So with that, unless you have any tips on wiring, handy dandy tucking advice, auto swaps or happen to know a good place I can find a nice solid 240/260z shell I guess that ends our conversation. To me its more about the journey, having fun and trying stuff others haven't or trying to take things a little farther and being proud of it in the end.

Geez, you guys bicker and gossip like women. In the mean time enjoy some wiring updates here soon. ^_^

Like a boss! :thumb:

Not everything works out man.....but seeing where he is now I'm fairly certian he'll finish this one! So why don't you grow a set learn some maturity and keep your opinions to yourself. nuff said.

Not done yet? common hurry up! :p

Hahaha she's been done a while brotha, actually when I posted this thread the pics I was posting up were past dated. It was the little jab that I had waiting for the doubters questioning it was the simple fact the car was running at the time >=P

Thanks for reminding me however that I need to update this thread, I am rebuilding a new harness after I sold my last one to a local as well as building another Galant GVR4.

Busy busy :p

I spent the fall building a 2.3L Whipped Lighting and an LSx RX7: (never mind the commentary it was a video made for a FB car group)

hahah, this is funny. all that work to smooth up the engine bay, and then paint it with rustoleum. LOLzers.

Not really an issue, there is a difference between someone doing stuff for fun and doing it to make a big deal. I painted it with the Rustoleum because its better than primer and bare metal. This car is an on going project I plan to tinker with for a long time when I don't have any other projects on the table. Eventually the entire car will be stripped to bare metal and painted some random non factory color possibly but for now its held up just fine. :thumb:

I would have felt like I was wasting even more time just spraying the bay with a base and clear with plans to repaint everything in the first place.

You sure about that?:nono:

It definitely ran and plenty of locals could confirm it. The Raven was sold because I ran out of room (7 vehicles at that point between cars and bikes) and turned the second part of my garage into a reptile room and bought a bunch of reptiles to invest in and enjoy.

I'm not like 99% of the people you see on here who do big builds, all of their money time and attention are focused on that one car. I (admittedly so) have vehicular A.D.D. I am in a position where I can play and build multiple cars and enjoy the journey and so I do. I don't see the problem with it. Not everyone builds to rip the 1/4 a couple times the year, and not everyone is stuck working on one car.

To this day I have no idea why people don't understand that simple concept that there is life outside of just this car. ROFL I don't brag about being the fastest around or act like I am chasing John Shep. That's not my style, nor what I find enjoyment in doing. People who don't agree with that can easily ignore the threads to begin with.

Boys and their toys. Just havin' fun guys, at my own pace, on my own dime and in my own time.:thumb::D

Thank you for making such an informative build/how-to thread. Especially the bit about the thermostat housing' never even crossed my mind. It will help me quite a bit when I get back home and start tinkering with my engine bay.

:thumb: Great build. I've read many of your threads and always I've always came out with more knowledge than I went in with.

Lol. You'll regret it when it gets fuel or oil on it and it wrinkles up..... good luck putting real paint on that without it attacking it. You can wire tuck and bullshit all you want, but this car is still junk.

LOL! I don't even know why you come to my threads to down play me. My opinion of you is so low that I have to almost force myself to reply to your fickle attempts to take jabs at me.

The car eventually will be stripped, media blasted and repainted when the time comes, IF the time comes. As it is right now I'd make the decision 10 more times. The Rustoleum clear coat on top of the white has held up amazingly to oil, heat, yellowing etc.

When you post up an engine bay you have done, nicer, hell half as nice as what I enjoyed putting together I'll take you seriously, until then please find someone else to troll that values your opinion or approval even slightly.:thumb: Its odd that the bottom feeders are the only ones you ever hear yapping. Not surprising but odd, Hell who am I kidding, if I woke up tomorrow with your life I'd be a bitter ass hat too. You've been working on your same POS Frankenstein car for almost a decade and still no one cares about it, no one gives you the time of day and I see you are still on a quest for attention. Congrats, you're awesome.ROFL

Very nice build. I learned a lot from it, especially the trans stuff. Thank you.

No, thank you for reminding me why I do it in the first place. A lot of simple info you think that would be posted but never has been from the trans info to the wiring info that hopefully help others in the long run. I'm too busy to live my life a 1/4 mile at a time and I'm no Dom Toreno this isn't Fast and Furious and I have zero plans to attend RaceWarz but I guess I have an older soul that simply values the minor details of things and taking ones time to do things at a comfortable convinient pace.

If anything was left out or you guys have any specific questions I can hopefully help.

I wish my avatar was a picture of someone else's car too.

ouch that hurt LOL

Your car looks great but in his defense, you spent 7+ years on a build that never made a pass. And had an undeserving cockiness about that one too.

Your engine bay doesnt make your car faster then his. Claim all you want but as far as drag dsm's come, he is kicking your ass. By a mile.

Basically your on par with the kids who blow their student loan money on 15k worth of parts only to end in a part out. Because thats exactly all you've done. Not saying that he was right to make comments like that, or that you dont do some nice work, but come on man. You cant really talk shit with a car on jack stands. You know you would rag on someone for doing the same thing. Finish the damn thing and get out there with it already.

Edit: I actually dont see what the problem is with using the rustoleum. I've seen some great work done with it. I actually painted a dd with rustoleum white. It held up great for years. I've spilled gas on while filling up and etc, it never peeled up. It didn't bother it one bit. It seemed more scratch resistant as well. Seems perfect for an engine bay.

Who cares about who's car is "faster" That is the problem with a lot of people in the community. 99.9% of the population don't give 2 sh*ts what a car runs in the 1/4 And I have plenty of slips of going faster than he ever has in the 1/4 so regardless I went faster than he has about 5 years ago. In a community like this so centered around 1/4 perf if after 8-10 years on ONE car you aren't running 8s what have you really accomplished? The next person that mentions something to me about track times better have an 8s time slip so I can take them seriously.

This isn't a drag car, I don't know how many times I can mention that. Also what car did I work on for 7yrs? The longest DSM I have ever worked on was my very first one which was never down and always ran because I DD it. Went from a 14b to a V-Trim (which I still hold the record on for HP and track time) and then to a 35r then 40r then 62-2 and then moved onto the next one. The Raven took less than a year to get running with the GTK1000 set up and was pulled apart to do the hx52 and wire tuck and was completed with a cheap HKS bottom mount setup then parted and sold for space.

Like I said, I don't rant and rave about track times because I don't care about track times. If I put half of my attention and finances spent on other projects all into 1 DSM and worked on it for 5-10 years like a lot of guys do around here I'd be chasing Brent Rau unfortunately drag racing doesn't get my rocks off, sorry to burst that bubble, then again I have been saying this for years and for some reason it is too deep for people to comprehend that a person has the means and ability to build cars like this just for fun and not give 2 flying fks about fast n furious d*ck slinging 1/4 comparisons. As far as the car being on jackstands, I just posted up a video with a built LSx RX7 and a 2.3L Whippled Lightning I built over the course of only a few months with my own hands in my drive way. Please tell me again why I should care about his opinion of my DSM which is 10Xs nicer than anything he has ever built (and by anything I mean the one frankenstein bucket he has had almost a decade) and I built this car originally within ONE-TWO MONTHS for an event.:ohdamn:

I'm not on par with the kids who spend their student loan and then part out because, 1. I wouldn't need a loan to put $15K into a car, 2. I've Only parted out TWO cars in my entire decade plus in the community. My first one that got parted to build the next and then the Raven again for space, not cause I needed the money I just lost ALL interest in drag racing and felt like getting into reptiles LOL. On top of that I'm building BMWs, Nissans, Hondas, Fords, Mazdas, oldschoo, new school and everything else on the side. I have nothing to prove to anyone, I've done more than enough to be secure within my own right. My life doesn't revolve around DSMs nor insecure peoples opinions of me on the internet. Let me do my thing and he can do his, posting in my thread only makes him seem jealous and bitter.

The negativity is simply over whelming, lets just move on from it and let it all be, no ones opinions will change and that's fine, just leave that crap out of my thread and its all gravy baby.

And as far as the Rustoleum thing. It has worked wonders so far. Its done the right way as well, stripped to bare metal followed by mineral spirits bath, etching primer, finshing primer 3 coats of white then 2 coats of clear.

I didn't just rattle can on white then again the process is shown the pics as well.

i plan on getting in the 9's with my 6 bolt motor, 2g auto trans, hx40 pro turbo. what all mods did you do to the trans to hold the power? Shift kit, 5 friction front clutch pack, shift box, high stall torque converter. And is that about it?
Thanks would appreciate your input and .02!

Every long thread I've ever read also gets filled with negative comments half way through, but it's nice to see how the car turned out.

I'm starting my next dsm project this summer, can't wait! :hellyeah: Good job man, especially on the tranny rebuild.

It is my car. That guys just an idiot and hates on everything thats not his. Even when almost everything is better then his piece of shit.

See what I don't get is why people like that can't just appreciate the time and hard work someone put's into there build's instead they have to look for something to complain about instead keeping there ####ing mouth's shut.
