After two years of running a wickedly fast Magnus Motorsports Evo X we've made the decision to go back to something a little more familiar. We're bringing the old girl back for 2013. This year is going to especially fun because Daytona is back on the schedule. So sit back and watch as we build the car, solve problems, build new parts, build our marketing and sponsorship campaign, test the car, and finally compete in 8 grueling days of racing across the country.

Can't wait to see how she does good luck.

Thank you. I'm sure its going to be killer. Keep an eye on this thread as I will keep it updated with the build up of the One Lap VR4. I have some cool little projects already underway including, a 2.3L stroker build, a custom made surge tank, a new brake kit that brings together everything I know about road racing and DSM's and some cool aero stuff too.

What wheels and size are those on that. I have a '90 GGSX I'm fixing up. I may paint it like your's if you don't mind.

The wheels are 17x9" Mustang Cobra wheels with 255/40-17 tires. You have to run a coil-over suspension for them to clear. For more information about the car you can check out our webpage here

The paint scheme on the car is an homage to the 1989 Works Rally VR4.

Thanks, Any idea what the offset on those wheels are? I have some 16x7.5 +35 K1's on the car now, but they belong to my talon..

I'm not sure what the backspacing is. I've been running them for quite a while now. They started life on my 92 GSX before I swapped over to the VR4.

They are off the shelf Ford Racing Cobra R 17x9 wheels. I think they are 5.96ish backspacing.

Just got the short block and head back from the machine shop ready for assembly. Here are the spec's

Seasoned block (216K miles)
Mitsu 2.3 crank un-cut and super finished
Crower rods
ARP main studs
line honed
Wiseco 8.8 stroker pistons

Ferrera 1mm over int&exh valves
crower springs/retainers
2g lifters
lightly ported
HKS 264/272 cams

With a FP3052 we made 400whp at 29psi with the old 2.0L block. The goal is to be in the 450whp range with the same boost on the stroker.

It's been anywhere between 0 and 10F up here the last week so I am a bit behind schedule with the build. I started a surge tank build last week and I was hoping to finish it up by this weekend but like I said. Its been too cold.

You should have no problem getting to 450whp with that setup. I was able to make 554/494 @ 28psi with the 3052 on my 2.3L setup. Consider getting tool steel wrist pins if you haven't already done that. My old setup (stock 2g head, stock 2g intake manifold, 3G MAS) made 464/464 @ 25psi with zero tuning on the dyno. Just drove it up, strapped it on the dyno and made 2 pulls. As long as you're running E85 or race gas I'm sure you'll hit your goal and then some.

I know its always hard to use dyno numbers because there aren't two alike. For reference the dyno I use is at Street Tuned Motorsports and its a Mustang dyno. In 2010 we ran the one Lap with the VR4/FP3052 combo and it was at 365whp at 24-25psi. As stated earlier while we were tuning it we were able to make 400whp at 29psi. I figured the stroker would give me 15% more over the 2.0L so I think at 25-27psi we should easily hit that mark.

In an effort to keep this as reliable as we can there are no plans to run this combination over 30psi.

I forgot to mention that we cannot use race gas in the One Lap competition and there are not a reliable amount of E85 stations on the route. That means we have to use pump gas and prepare for as low as 91 octane in some states. That makes our 450whp a bit more challenging but I think we should get close.

what about meth injection? but sweet car man! good luck one the lap :hellyeah:

The car is equipped with a water/meth injection kit already. I am a fan of them but they do add a layer of complexity to car and in an event like One Lap keeping it simple is always a good idea. The last time I was at Watkins Glen I turned it off and re-tuned the car without it. I am not sure if I will use it again this year. I have to sit down with the route map and see if I can get 93 octane throughout the entire 8-days of the event.

Our Forza artist (Les) has been at it again. Forza doesn't have the right wing for the car, but he has the base of the car ready to receive graphics. We'll update it when the all the sponsor graphics get sorted out.

We actually have both the One Lap cars on Forza. Just search for "Magnus Evo X" or "Galant VR4 rally car". Both were uploaded by sheeley91.

I don't have an xbox system so if anyone gets this working snap a screen shot of them in action for us.

Need a pit crew member in Pittsburgh? I'll definitely come out if I'm in town that day :)

Need a pit crew member in Pittsburgh? I'll definitely come out if I'm in town that day :)

We always need pit crew and guests and you are more then welcome to come down and hang out at ANY of the events along the way. This is a spectator friendly event. Although we can't promise anything, there have been occasions where they let us take fun runs at lunchtime with our guests. In 2009 we stuffed 5 guys in the VR4 and hit 105mph on the high banks at Daytona.

Last year we were featured in a pilot for a reality TV show based on the One Lap race. Some of the guys who came out to the track ended up in the background of some of our shots. So you never know what cool things are happening at One Lap.

So all are welcome to come out. We will also be putting together a list of DSM guys along the transit route just in case we run into any trouble. If you are interested and located on the transit route PM me your address and contact information.

I tried to find your cars on Forza 4 by searching but couldn't find either one. I searched "Magnus" and "vr4 rally" under designs but found nothing. Searching his gamertag returned the ams gtr and a black talon tsi but thats it.

We are excited to race this year to benefit the Wounded Warrior
Project. Announcements and info on how to become involved coming soon..
