Thanks. I can't remember I know it was $150 in supplies and paint. We just used primer and white and black. No clear for easy repair think the cans cost $3.

I moved them back to the front for now. I live on a curvy road and my back end sliding out scares the crap out of me. With them up front I seem to still have great traction. Once I am able to get them replaced I will but $220 is hard to save up when you only make $100 a week.

dude youve gone this far making 100$ a week? kuddos to you man Im still building mine and havent even done half as much as you and make double. I wish I knew how to rebuild or else I would do it myself but Im scared i will destroy my engine. MOst of the upgrades Ive done are cosmetic and some engine. I def will be following this build!

Don't be scared. I was when I built mine. I've never done it before or had any experience or know how. I just got a manual that tells you everything. And just follow it. If you are scared you more precautious and you double and triple everything you do. That's how I was. The scariest thing is turning the key the first time and going for that first drive after thats over, if anything was wrong it would have showed its self.

what part of TN, I'm always willing to help people, and love waiting a build happen. I can give you pointers about the 420a when building it, and good ways to do it.

Project hit another bump. Went to visit my dad again for two weeks got back and car was fine for 3 days. Went to leave for work today and ticking.

Now engine bay has been put on hold

Well my 100th attempt to stop my valve cover from leaking. Decided to record it to see if anyone can notice if I'm doing something wrong or my car being a B****.

Sad that I can do this in 30 minutes, because I've done it so many times.

First off, nice clean approach.
-Great choice on the Memphis PR line of subs; Memphis has great underrated speakers for the price
(I have Memphis Pr 6.5's and 6x9 in my car and a JL 10w7 :hellyeah:)

As far as the gasket set you used:
My gasket and head bolts came in today. Exciting almost got everything.

I have used that gasket set before on a beater talon and it leaked a lot, soon and everywhere especially the valve cover gasket. This may be the source of your oil leak problems as well. My solution was to replace with fel pro set from local store.

Overall though, great looking NT!

Thanks I do what I can with what I got.

As far as gaskets I've not had any problems with that kit. At the beginning of my valve cover nightmare I finally discovered that I was missing washers. But now I have small leaks at the corners. I am using felpro, the last 3 gaskets have been felpro. I do believe this one isn't leaking but not sure yet. I still smell burning oil but that's mostly because the old leak. Also hard to see drips when it's raining. But I hope this time it's fixed.

Not sure about the FSM, but the Haynes manual recommends RTVing the corners.

I've seen some threads where people RTV around the whole gasket

Have you checked the head and valve cover for warpage?
I'll check my Haynes Manual for a specific kind of RTV.

Also, where did you get the polyurethane bushings for your suspension?

I have but everyone says that the ATV I used is fine and I believed it's fixed.

And I got it off eBay. They are great and are holding up fine only one is showing damage but that was my fault when I installed it. Other that that I'd recommend them.

where did you get all the leds for the interior i want some for my speedometer and the rear view mirror ?

I got the leds on eBay. I believe it was 150 leds strip. It's not hard to do there is two threads in the interior tech section.

Thanks. I like my 420a and the challenge that comes with it. Not the same old thing. I have crazy plans to do with it but I'll have to wait till I'm better equipped with the right tools.

As, of the build, it is kinda on hold. Slow at work and hours are cut. Right now I'm saving for front tires mine are bold. Hope to have it soon. Then after that its fixing all the drivetrain problems. Another transmission and C/V axles. Possible a clutch if I have enough.

Over the weekend I thought I was going to have to buy new bushings, a horrible sound was coming from my right-rear tire well.

Turned out the brake pads were shot. OMG

The other side was worn, but no where near as worn as that side was.

That is good you figured out that problem. A lot easier to fix than replacing the bushings and a lot cheaper.

Well finally got tires and had saved up for more goodies. Yay.
But car decided that she wanted me to spend my money else where. Right after I got my brand new tires I was driving on a back road. Well when I finally got to 55 the car started shaking really bad. Seeing that it was only when I started going over 55mph I assumed my tires were not balanced right seeing how it was right after getting new tires. Well place was already closed so I was going to call next morning so I went home.

Next day I decided I would jack the car up and make sure it wasn't something else. Well it was, both front wheel bearings where shot and the tires where so loose. I remember hitting a pot hole that went across the road but didn't hit it hard for me to worry I thought but this also explains that loose part up front I never could find.

Car is up on jack stands and taken apart ready for me to get parts from a pull a part tomorrow. Going to get spindles hubs and c/v axles for both sides.

Well I decided to just get all new bearing and c/v axles. Still had to go to the pull a part to get another driver side spindle because we could not get the c/v axle out of the hub on the driver side. We had tried everything, so I cut my losses and got another for $20.

There we had to brake the axle nut lose. So we stuck a screwdriver in the rotor to stop it from turning. That's when I realized I forgot my breaker bar. We we spent about 20 minutes looking for something to use as a breaker bar. Well we found the perfect use for a front axle out of a jeep. :hellyeah: This made our day and worked perfect. :D

Well yesterday, I decided to start working on the badly faded paint, so when its all put back together she will be looking good. Stripped the body of all parts to get out the way. Spent a hour masking it up, than waited for the tree to put shade over the car.

Spent I believe 8 hours of determination to get it done. I used Meguiars ultimate compound, than ultimate polish, than finally wax. I used a good buffer that could hit 3,000 rpms (didn't go that high though) so I could cut the paint.
It turned out amazing, never had it shine like this. :rocks:

Now today I got to do all the black trim on it and clean the rims. Than when my bearings get in I can get it fixed than go cruising again.

Finally got it back together and found out it also had a bad tie rod. Got it replaced and aligned. Never drove so smooth. Finished polished also. Car drives and looks the best it ever has. Only thing left to fix is transmission and breaks and it will be all new and can finally start things to make it better.

Not catching a break. Had a shake at 55 MPH after tie still there than found out I had a bad lower ball joint. Got that fixed and aligned still had the shake. Took it back just to check the tires and make sure they were balanced and found the problem. I have bent the crap out of the rims. So now I have 3 bent rims. They balanced them as good as they can and the shaking is gone. Looks like I have to hunt down some 3g rims.

Not much done just wanting to give an update still looking for rims to replace the bent ones. Also trying to figure out the smoke out the exhaust think it may be a valve seal.

But I really was going to share this tire shine I seen on TV a month ago than finally read about it. I decided to try it cause it sounded to good to be true. Duplicolor makes it, it's a tire shine but it's a apartment paint. You spray it on like you would if you were painting anything else. It's weather proof and last for months. Here is my tire. Let's see how long it last but I already like it.
