So I just purhcased a car in Detroit and was wondering if anyone has a reccomendation as to which company to use. I've gotten quotes from a TON of different companies but I was hoping for someone with personal experience.
I've never shipped a car up here or car anywhere for that matter. So far it looks like its going to cost anywhere from 2000-3000.

Being that you are in Alaska I honestly don't know. Most companies I can think of only deliver to the lower 48.

However, because you are in Alaska and you live in a area that most people stay in seasonally you may be able to find someone who knows if you ask around. I'd hit up people you know who come and go first.

I've shipped 3 or 4 up here one from Florida. Cheapest from Tacoma up to here is Tote call them directly. Most car companies ship thru them anyway so cut out middleman and go direct. Make sure car has less than 1/4 tank fuel for shipping. For shipping from Florida to Tacoma I used Dependable Auto Shippers, they can pick up in or deliver any state. Be very carefull though in documenting condition to makesure nothing happens in transport. Also not allowed bring things up in car or they charge for it and gve no guarantees it will be safe. Here is DAS link Auto Transport | Car Shipping | Vehicle Shipping | Auto Shipping Quote So what car you find the white GSX ? Anymore questions can call or text me.

I got a 99 GSX in silver. I really wanted white but I couldn't pass this car up. It's so clean and well taken care of, it has some tasteful mods but nothing extreme. Not a speck of rust and the interior is gorgeous!

Gonna rock two dsm's and an audi? Sounds fun to me:thumb:

Sounds great, can't wait to see it. Glad you found what you were looking for. :hellyeah:

How much of you other guys got quotes. Im just curious on prices.
I literally got over 20 quotes from different companies around the country and on average from Detroit to Kent, Washington (Port location to then ship the car) was 1000-1400 dollars. From Washington was another 1000-1400 dollars. I could have gotten it for a few hundred bucks cheaper but I paid a bit extra for what I think is a better, more reputable company as they had nothing but good reviews online and is one of the few companies that I contacted that provides you with tracking information over the course of the vehicles journey. That price also includes complete coverage for any damage that may occur. Total distance traveled will be 3,896 miles.

I actually sold my Talon last week. I would have kept it if I had the room but I'm currently renting and I am not allowed to park on the side of the street. My DSM along with my roommates Yamaha R6 are in the garage and my Audi and my roommates Lancer Ralliart are in the driveway. Most valuable car gets the heated garage haha DSM>Audi

Thanks spyder, I'm really excited for it to get here. I'm currently on the slope but I get back on the 5th. I'm hope it will get here before I go back up on the 19th.

I can't believe someone registered just to post that obvious spam.

The car has already been picked up and is on its way up here:)

November 21st, 22nd ish; give or take a few days. All depends on what day it gets to Kent, Washington because that will determine when it goes on the barge to get shipped up to Anchorage.

Nope, some stuff got mixed up and it didn't pass "tech" for the barge because it was apparently too low. It is being trucked through Canada now and I can pick it up tomorrow. I'm so excited to finally have a 99 GSX. I've wanted one for so long I can't wait.

Sweet looking car! I want those rims. Whatever you do for a living must pay pretty good to ship a car across country after buying it. Specially a clean Gsx.

Thats odd doesn't look that low I've shipped two 3000GT VR4's and they never said anything. Well at least its almost here thats whats important. Merry Xmas to you !

Thank you, and they are stock 17' GSX rims that have been painted black.

I work in the oil fields up north.

Ya I thought so too. My exhaust got damaged a bit from when the first carrier loaded it up so it's fairly low but it is by no means slammed. Ya I get back from the slope tomorrow so it works out perfectly; the second I land in anchorage I am going straight to pick it up!
And thank you, it is my christmas present to myself haha. Now that I have this though i'm done working over all the time. 3 weeks up and 1 week home is taxing to say the least. I took some time off so i'll be home for a month.

I've been trying to find a set of Gsx rims to plastidip and put on my panda. My 18's are a little too big for my car I think.
Sounds like a fun job!

I wonder how much a plane ticket would a costed me from your world to mine? I coulda tryied pawning for some vaca time at work went to detroit and ROAD TRIPPED IT to your area for maybe cheaper LOL Congrats on the new nice looking ride!

Haha it might have been cheaper. That's a LONG drive for sure. When I looked at plane tickets down there is was about 650 to get to Detroit. I was seriously considering it. If it was something other than a DSM I probably would have gone for it but I don't care how good of condition it's in. I'll never trust a DSM that much again. Made that mistake on a 2,000 mile road trip and I was stranded in the middle of the desert for quite some time.

So how's the GSX?

Long story short... Truck broke down going through Canada and there were some issues with customs so after a bunch of bullshit and me impatiently waiting i'll be picking my car up today.
