All "my car won't start" discussion threads are merged HERE. We've basically made it easier for those who insist upon not searching by grouping together all threads from those with similar issues so you can just scroll through and see some possible solutions. To search for info within this thread, use the "Search This Thread" feature in the black bar about 3" above what you're reading right now.

Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.

I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

Whats wrong.

Thanks

I have a lot of spare parts laying around so I will try the power transistor next and a different maf and I will also do a boost leak test.

It is a stock 7 bolt with stock injectors, I have turned the fuel pump on with dsmlink and I can hear it come on. I will also check voltage on the alternator and get back to you guys.

Thank you alll for the replies.

I tried another maf that I know works and a different power transistor and it still won't start and stay on, it will randomly start and go to 2k rpms and then just die again, if I hit the gas it just dies.

Had these same symptoms when i forgot to plug my coolant temp sensor back in.. Maybe yours is bad?

Problem solved.

The car had stock 275cc non turbo injectors installed, the owner told me the previous mechanics had already checked and cleaned the injectors so I didn't bother to check them, yesterday when I pulled the fuel rail and injectors off the head to check the spray pattern on the injectors and I noticed the injectors had the numbers 275 stamped on the side so I pulled them out and installed some 450cc injectors I had laying around and the car started up and ran with no problems.

Thank you for all your replies, your help is greatly appreciated.

hi I recently posted about blowing a head gasket and melting a hole in the cylinder head. well I got a new head and put it back together but it wont start. if I turn the key it will turn over like 3 cylinders than almost sounds like it kicks back. it will fire cylinders but im not sure how many. I think it is probably my timing off, can anyone tell me how to set the timing marks on the bottom without taking off the pulley. also does the oil pump actually have to be lined up? thanks it is a 95 eclipse gst full 7bolt

yea the oil pump will have to be lined up, unless u have a balance shaft elimination. my car did this to me and
1 i didn't have the balance shaft lined up. the balance shaft will give you a rough idle. also did this
and 2 i was off a couple teeth on crank.

there are also videos on you tube how to do 4g63 timing

have you tested your compression to see if one cylinder (or all) are building compression correctly?

ok I watched a video on how to do the timing and the person said that the oil mark didn't matter, he must have removed the balance shafts. ill re time it tomorrow after I go to upull. when I towed my car home from blowing it up I hooked a chain around the brace under the radiator, well it caught one of those bolts at the bottom of the radiator and ripped it off putting a hole in the bottom of my radiator, I didn't realize this intill I was filling with fluids.... add another thing to the list I suppose ha

watch this video here you go. also if you have to redo timing use zip ties to hold the two cams on top while you work on the bottom.:thumb:

275cc injectors dont even nees a resistor pack.. Ppl just slap anything on cars. Glad u found the issues. Sucks that the 275 are blue tops as well LOL

ok so i just looked at again. the timing on the crank is off and so is the oil pump(ddnt think it mattered). anywys well i know that the cylinders are firing because the plugs are all clean. it is just the timing was set after tdc not before it. i couldnt see the marks and i got anxious. i put a screwdriver down the spark plug hole and cranked it over till it was at the top. somehow i got it wrong tho. oh well and i know that the spark plug wires are in the right order becasue they are tied up so the logest one will go to the futhest away and so on.

ok so i went home yesterday and re set the time. i went to fire it and the same problem almost. everything was lined up until l i rotated it twice. then the intake cam was off by one gear. i went forward to start it anyways because one tooth should still let it run. of course my luck it didn't run. i turned it over and it started and ran for about two seconds and it ran like crap. as soon as i hit the gas it died and wont start again. im thinking it might be the cam angle sensor or cam position sensor. it is a 2g so it has it under the cam gear. the reason that i think this is because when i was torquing it down i heard a crack but didn't think anything of it. also i havent filled it with coolant because of a leaky radiator... will this cause it not to fire because of low or no coolant.

Hi every one i have a 1995 eagle talon tsi awd with a 6 bolt swap. when my car is cold it will start up but when its wormed up and i try to move it, it will die out on me and i will try to crank it over but it will not start ! it sounds like it is cranking super fast two . but after it cools down it will start again what is this problem i have never had it before.

do you have emissions delete done to the car if so did you disconnect the fuel pressure sylenoid? if you still have it installed it sounds like its bad. its located near the brake fluid resevior and has vacume lines going from your intake manifold to the sylenoid to your fuel pressure regulator.
