I changed all the belts, fluids, plugs, wires, bushings, shocks (KYB AGX), wheels and tires, pads and rotors, installed a manual boost control and threw in a K&N .. what should I do next?

I plan on..

1. New intake pipe from Dejon Powerhouse

2. Turbo upgrade with all new exhaust..? :D

3. what do you guys think?

Also, the car was owned by a priest and was garage kept it's entire life. Total barn find.. or church find I guess. Got it for... $1800! Amen!!!

p.s. as I left, he shook my hand and said "Godspeed"
LOL no lie

This should be your last mod IMO. I had Link, 660cc injectors, and FMIC long before an MBC.

That is a bit odd, I made a MBC for my dsm as the first mod after doing the free mods and maint. Cost me less than 9$ for the parts at the hardware store. You can easily raise the boost on the stock 14b to around 14-16 psi no problems.

I boosted my first 1g at 16 psi for over a year before I got into anything heavier than intake/exhaust/boost gauge/mbc.

These days however, I would get DSM Link and a wideband first.

^ Just because you can doesn't mean it's safe. Pushing your fuel system to the max is just asking for trouble.

LOL!

Its hilarious how many people told you NOT to put a MBC on the car, yet you do it first?

Hahahahah OMG.. the things people do to these cars, even after they get advice from the pros.

Thats why your car is so rare, all of the others are sitting in junkyards because IDIOTS put MBC on them and ####ed the motors up.

Whatever... your car, your choice.

GL...

I plan on keeping this car forever so I don't want to f it up. I want to do it right the first time. Thanks guys!!

Oh, you want to do it right the first time eh?

Well, start by re-reading every response on this thread.

Your car is not equipped with a map sensor so bov is a tasteless mod IMHO
He has a MAF sensor - hiding in the front of the aircan where it's supposed to be...

If this comment holds true, then keeping it bone stock is the way to go.

I plan on keeping mine for the good duration as well.

I got it 5yrs ago, shoved on 29K miles since the purchase, starts right up on a very cold day, have MT-90 in the transmission, shifts smoothly, rebuilt ECU installed, all my sensors in place, et.al. ... and no plans for any idiotic mods. Just need the new paint job since mine is super tired, but plan on keeping with the original 1989 Raspberry Red color.

When I picked my car up (after mainteanace ) I installed and ran open down pipe, FMIC, XS power tubular manifold w external wastegate, boost controller, walbro 190 and went 13.4@106. Ran the car like that for almost 2 years before picking up my tuning device a SAFC/Chip combo. When I decided upgrade my turbo to a B16G I pulled my old turbo off and found it was a S16G. So nearly 2 years of 15-16 psi on a small 16G. The motor went on to run BC272 on 26psi on the 16G for another 2 years.

Have you guys ever asked yourselves what people did before ECMlink? I am in no way saying it's useless, crappy or whatever. Just stating what others have already said it is NOT NECESSARY as a first mod.

I suggest letting the car breathe by opening up the exhaust and keeping your boost in check. In the meanwhile set a goal and look at others setups that are close to or achieved your goal be it power wise or time wise. Then compare the setups to see whats most common and likely necessary and whats personal preference.
