Okay guys, I recently picked up a 1g NT throttle body to put on my 2g.

First up is there any thing special about the install? Im porting the intake mani to match, but anything other then that?

Second, how the hell im a going to get a coupler that works with the intercooler piping? The throttle body pipe that came with the piping is really long. Has anyone ran the vrsf fmic with an NT throttle body?

VRSF 2G Front Mount Intercooler Kit : 2G DSM (On Back Order)

Heres an idea on how long the pipe is.

Thanks for the help.

Run this 2.5" 90* coupler off the TB and then modify the UICP by cutting the TB flange off of it and putting it into the coupler. Be sure to weld a bead or put a lip on the edge of the UICP though, if not you'll blow your IC pipe off every time you go into boost.

I'm running a 1g NA TB using the VRS kit but I've currently got a GM MAF thrown in the mix so its a bit different.
There is nothing special about the install, just make sure you seal it up tight between the TB and IM, no boost leaks. Also make sure you've got a 2g TPS on there (4 pin) so you have an idle switch, without it you'll get surge.

When I put my N/T throttle body on it made it a bit easier for me to use a 2.5" for the intercooler pipe side and a 2.75" for the throttle body side. Not near as hard to get it slide on the throttle body and still seals fine. Siliconeintakes.com is where I got my coupler at.

Just as soon as mine gets here I'll be taking it to have the flange cut and a bead welded..

Alright so I finished mine last night. I didn't even use the elbow that came with the kit like I had planned to use and cut off the flange. I just used a 90 degree coupler and put a 3" gm maf to fill the gap. Everything fit perfectly.

I am running the N/T TB on mine and I use the 90* 2.75-2.5 reducer and it fits great. I am going to delete the GM maf so I will be getting the 90* bend piping.

I was talking with my brother last night and we were considering using a quick release clamp at the throttle body (e.g. Wiggins). I'll update this if I decide to go through with it. But it's definitely something that's been considered in the past, and now that I have an easy way to make it happen, it's sounding like a very viable option.

I think you may have just solved my idle issue I was having last year. I swapped a N/T TB on and didn't even look at the TPS to make sure it was for a 2g.

If you and Eric figure out those Wiggins fittings post up pictures, I've always wanted to use them on my turbo and TB. What scares me is what happens when it starts leaking, at least with a coupler you can remove and re-install.

Bringing this back from the dead. I'll be swapping to a SMIM and 1G N/T TB in a few weeks and was hoping for some pics of people setups. I was considering a Wiggins style clamp at the throttle body or maybe just a coupler. I want to make a one piece UICP from TB to VRSF end tank. I got an idea from a guy on the forum using 1 90 degree pipe and 2 45's to make one piece although this will require my battery moved.

Old pic, but same pipe. I had to add a little piece of tubing to get the right angle I needed. Used a 2.5" to 3" 90* coupler. Fits like a glove.

It's real easy to run a 1g NT throttle body on the VRSF FMIC piping. I am running one on my new setup. I bought a 2.75" to 2.5" coupler, a 1' 90 degree 2.5" aluminum bend, and 30 degree 2.5" coupler. It fit PERFECTLY. I bought everything from Intercooler Pipe Fabrication - Silicone Intake Systems Auto Parts and it was real cheap. If anyone has any questions about the VRSF kit in general, please feel free to PM me. We are a VRSF dealer and I have extensive experience with the kit (and I still run one today)!

Here's a shot of mine with the SMIM and an Evo III IM, it's nice to be able to have an UICP that doesn't need changed when making changes to the intake. Less than 10" of pipe welded to the VRSF UICP and a 90* bending reducer was all it took, less than $50.

Wow, thanks for the tips and pictures guys. Really helping me out here. I did a little digging myself and found a couple good ones. I'll post up the pictures.

Disclaimer:These photos are NOT mine, they are just examples of a job well done that I'd like to base my work off. If there is an issue, I have no problem removing them.

I really like this first one, he used a wiggins style clamp at the TB:

This second one belongs to MacGSX and he used one 90 bend and two 45's. The good news is, I already have the aluminum bov flange for when I'm ready:

Those do look good but you're talking about a VRSF UICP, those UICP aren't a part of that kit. If you want a completely custom UICP then the sky's the limit to what you can do. I posted pictures of mine because it's a one piece UICP built from the VRSF kit and works with a 1g N/T TB on a SMIM.

Same here, I used the normal VRSF piping and just added a 90 degree onto it.

I just cut the flange off the vrsf elbow and use that with a 2.5-2.75 reducer coupler. Though I did have my battery in the trunk.

Yeah sorry if there was confusion. I was never talking about modifying the VRSF UICP. I want to make a custom pipe and was looking for different ideas from people using the VRSF core. What you did looks pretty tempting though. I do love your DSM.:thumb:
