What do you think you will go to when the 4g63 is a dead platform? (think past Evo)

I was sitting in my car today, wondering what would hold my interest after this. I believe battery tech will have advanced well beyond Li ion banks weighing a thousand pounds that only provide marginal range. Carbon nanostructure is opening up some amazing possibilities in energy storage...

I think it would be really fun to build a turbocharged hybrid with a bigass generator, super capacitor pack, and a high density battery bank... Have that feed a set of DC RE high density motors like Tesla uses... Just bigger, and backed by farad capacitors. The instant torque of a high power DC motor would either shred your tires or rip your head off... I'd love to find out which one it would be sometime in the future. :D

Hyundai GDI all the way, im switching to the hyundai 1.5L alpha 1 this summer I hope.

But deff direct injected and small displacement.

2JZ IS300 or Back to a BIG Block Chevy some way

I don't have a clue I've been thinking about a new car for the past year or so and still have no idea what I want next. I've been all over the map from genesis sedan to Audi/BMW wagon to cts-v to g35 and so on. Really depends on whether I keep the evo and get another car or trade the Evo

Really like the idea of a boosted LS motor once I graduate I've been thinkin about picking up a c6 vette and supercharging it you can get them for a really decent price with like 40k on them

4g63 will never be a dead platform. With cars like ours around, all the kiddies will continue to covet them and you think prices are high now! No need to worry lads.. Im still waiting for a truly simple and cheap tuning solution. I think thats the next step in 4g63 evolution.

IMO, the only way the 4g63 will die and be forgotten is if mitsubishi or DSM rejoins the awd turbo game with another world beating platform that the masses can afford. EVO may be the current replacement but it dosent fit the niche that a 2 door dsm made. EVO are too expensive and scarce. Who knows, mabey in 10 years EVOs will be as cheap as DSMs??? Then we will still be beating on an EVOLUTION of 4g63 goodness.

I think i will gravitate towards something that's a little roomier due to my health but still thinking something that's 3.5 - 4.0 liters and turbochaged, maybe the new SHO engine, or something unique

I've been asking myself the same question since 1994 when I got my first DSM- a 1990 FWD turbo Laser.
I still have it.

Anytime I think of getting another car I just compare the cost of the next car vs. putting in a little maintenance on my old car. The Laser is still smooth, quiet, very cheap to own and has plenty of mod potential.

The other platforms I like are a boosted IS300. It uses the NT version of the Surpa engine, so it's easy to add a turbo kit and double the HP, plus it's a 4 door, looks sleeper so you don't get tickets or have ricer kids rev at you, and prices are cheap enough.

A nicer platform is the BMW 335 from 2007-2009. Twin turbo 3 liter direct injection and plenty of potential. Guys are getting up to 400hp with a tune and intakes. Some have converted to big single turbo and get 650HP in a smooth daily driveable cruiser.

It will be a while before it's truly a "dead" platform. See the old Datsun guys, they are still at it, and there old as hell and a "dead" platform by all accounts. It just takes a dedicated group of car guys, that's all.

I can't think of anything below 30grand i'd really want enough over my DSM to purchase. All I see when I see most cars is how much of that purchase price money could go into further modifying the DSM, and just where the DSM would then be. And then it's an easy choice, screw the new cars. 39k thoughtfully and skillfully invested into a DSM o what she could do!

Though If I had to move on, it would most likely be a 2015 Mustang GT.

If Link isn't cheap and easy enough to use then you're in for a bad time going to any other platform.

Already found my next toy. :)

Sold the DSM a few years back and just sold off my second EVO last month. I've been wrenching on the 4g63 platform since 2002 and it's been a wild ride.

This will mostly be my daily with nothing big planned for it. Already have an intake and put the new wheels on. Longtubes, x-pipe, and axle back are on their way. Aside from suspension and maybe a few more minor things to bump it up to high 500s/low 600s to the wheels and I'll probably call it a day before I start looking for an all out project. After driving this thing around, I can definitely say the next project will have 8 cylinders and a turbo. :hellyeah:
