One of the best sounding engines although not a 4 banger, is IMO a subie 3.0 h6. WOW, from inside the cabin it sounds like full race tune when romped on. Returning to 4 bangers,, I would concede a stock subie sti exhaust is a good sound. 1982 honda cb900f with basani race exhaust is a GREAT sound

My opinion, any square bore 2.0+ 4 lunger allmotor running around 100+ mph tached out. I love the sound of my turbo spooling, but i actually miss hearing the 420a humming around 6500k at 90ish. It had a cold air intake, stock muffler.

Alot of hate for the hondas, maybe if you guys would go to an import event instead of the local hang outs you'd hear what a real honda sounds like.

My 4g63 sounds down right nasty when the wastegate opens (screamer pipe), but my old SR20DET sounded just plain mean

don't know much about them, but whenever i'd hear a SRT4 cruising around, always thought they sounded good. not sure if they were modified or stock, but most sounded pretty raw to me.

They lack a muffler from the factory and are tuned to dump fuel on decel. That's how they get that rumble along with the "popping" you hear. They do sound good though.

If only the DSM crowd could appreciate a straight-pipe exhaust. I think they sound wicked without a fart can to muffle all the turbo noises. :D

ah makes sense now. they always make me look to see what's making that sound.

yea, I would've agreed with you a week ago, but just got a loud exhaust ticket on wed night, so don't even want to think about the volume going up at all today haha.

So instead of being in the most efficient mode at idle.... you are now only efficient at mid-high rpm.... and still probaly make the same hp.

Vtec is a good thing... its like having 3 diff cams in 1.

So... your saying that no one should upgrade their cams? because it only gives them mid-high range power?...:thumb:
