hey guys i just picked up a 95 gst automatic with a bad auto tranny. its super clean all around and bone stock so its a perfect awd swap candidate. just want to make sure i cover all my bases since i havnt done the swap before from what im reading i need the following parts (if i miss something tell me)
-95-99 gsx awd transmission w. transfer case
-shifter cables
-shifter base assembly
-standard shift pedal assembly
-awd front axles
-flywheel + Clutch
-complete rear subframe w/ diff and axles
-driveshaft
-awd gas tank
-clutch master + Slave
let me know if im missing anything are fwd and awd struts the same or different, will my stock automatic ecu work without tuning or do i need a gsx 5 speed one? will my stock wiring harness work? just wanna make sure im not in for any surprises before i get started with this.

You need the rear carrier bearing mount as well.

The springs are heavier in the rear of a awd and some even say there taller strut wise but still haven't seen the proof of that.

yes it will set lower but they will mount up.

ya thats my only concern. once i know for certain all my electronics will switch over than ill definately start the swap but i dont wanna go crazy doing everything if im gonna have to swap wiring harnesses and what not.

I did the same swap on my previous car. No harness change needed and auto ecu will work fine. The gst ecu will have a top speed limited on it though since fwd did not come with z rated tires. VFAQ has a write up on how to remove the limiter. The only change to the harness will be for reverse switch and to bypass neutral safety switch. Same as any other auto to manual conversion.

Awesome thats what i wanted to hear. Guess ill dive into the conversion then. Thanks for the input guys. Car has 140 on it and the motor sounds like brand new has nice oil pessure hot no lifter tick but im thinking ill check the endplay to the balance shaft delete and a new oil pump do head studs and mls headgasket and 3g lifters and that should help it live awhile not sure what im doing for a turbo and what not but im looking for 350-400 all wheel eventually shouldnt be too far of a stretch... Isnt the general thinking that if your motor didnt crankwalk by 100k than your in the clear?

Could go either way. Mine walked after the swap. Autos you never really notice the symptoms since the flexplate and converter don't put as much pressure if any on the crank like a clutch will. Could be walked now just not bad enough to eat the crank sensor.

My stock 7 bolt had 145,000miles on it when I did the auto gst to manual awd I have put 25k on it with no walk issues and a xtd stage 3 pressure plate.

So far ive got the shifter assembly, cables, pedals, clutch master and a few other misc things installed I gotta go up to.Jersey.to.get the.rear.assembly driveshaft and gas tank then I can really attack this.thing. can.I get.brand.new front axles at.my.local parts store like.autozone? I don't.have either awd front axles

Almost forgot does anyone Have the part number for.oem 5 speed flywheels bolts?? I.have.an.auto.so.my bolts.are.too short

Listed for a 95 AWD:

MD302074 - Flywheel Bolts

Some parts you can get at the auto store, but you could probably find better cheaper items in the classifieds or craigslist, just depends on it.

Have you read Gofer's AWD swap? He did the same thing you are attempting to do, a FWD A/T to AWD M/T. He documented it very well I would recommend reading any articles you can on this site about the swap as it will help your along the way on your first attempt:

You can get the axles at parts stores but you will still need the stub shaft for the drivers side axle. Parts store axles only come with the outer part of the equal length half shaft.

This. You'll have to find someone willing to sell you the half shaft for the driver axle. I was lucky enough to get mine with my awd swap conversion.
