Okay so Sunday morning I woke up feeling like crap I mean bad. I'm pretty sure is a favor I had cold chills was hard stay warm and my whole body joints are hurting. Tried just staying warm wearing closing then I got a hot tub and that help me for about 10 minutes then at that wore off and i started hurting bad again even in the hot tub.

So i went and laid down in my gf bed and slept for hours. Woke no better. My gf came in and said I was burning out but to be honest I really didn't feel like it and when she lifted the cover I got cold chills again. So I took 4 ibuprofen and in about an hour and a half I was feeling great. 200 mg each.

That was at about 6 or 7 o'clock and I get me feeling good for the rest of the day. Next morning I wake up feeling the same thing all over again. All my joints felt like they had arthritis and I can feel a pulse through my head. So I went to my house and took some theraflu with 2 ibuprofens. This is kept me feeling fine all day long till about an hour and a half ago at about 10 o'clock start wearing off.

This is what concerns me when it started wearing off I got the cold shivers again but I also had this nerve thing jump all up my spine was kind of like a tingle or something and it made me shake.

I went and took another theraflu with and 2 200mg ibprofen. The nerve thing has stopped since. The flu med has 650mg aceteminophen. Are these two meds messing with my nerves? Can these be damaging to me? I know its a light dose of meds, I never really have to take drugs. But the why would i get shakes like that when it wears off? Thanks for any help.

The nerve thing may be from you shivering so much. Try using a heated blanket or a hot pad to keep your body temperature up. There has been a bug that has been going around with flu symptoms/chills/congestion etc.

Having a fever is a good thing, except if it goes over 103 you need to go to a doctor (that is when good cells die etc.). Once your fever breaks your body temperature/chills should come back to normal.

If you are having these symptoms for more than 2-3 days you should go to a doctor. Drinking warm liquids or any juices with Vitamin C are a plus.

Hope you feel better, but you should be back to normal within a week.

Google + entering health symptoms will turn you into an ultra paranoid hypochondriac

Man,......(if these spasms persist when you arenot in "chills"do one thing even if you ignore the rest..read this sentice,,, Go TO THE ER, insist it's more than the flu..IT COULD BE A SPINAL/NERVE INJURY even just a small one that won't hurt you in the long run or could be bad (it may be small, but i suffered small neurospasms like this for years that were s\disissed as no big deal andturns out it's a very big deal and in fact i have a very rare disorder (2% of people in the world) but my first doctor ignored my complaints of these nerve jumps you talk about and turns out i'm 10-12 uyears from a wheelchair from my nerb\vouse system dyeing off rapidly...anytime you have neurospasms like that it's no joke... I no longer have a lot of feeling or even reflexes in the entire left side of my body, and can't type the keys i look at most times after multiple truies... ignore my post from here on unless you're in opiate withdrawels, then read it and take heed.. but my old doc dissmissed my smasms as "med related side effects from opiates" turns out he was WAY WAY WAY wrong and now i'm on social security and getting discounts from the Mayo clinic on my tests and blood work because of a rare genetic disorder that although born with becomes active in puberty and worsens at an un-specified rate based on many variables... it's called porphyria (poor - fear- EEE--aaa) (mine is AI or accute intermittant porphyria() but best advice ihave some being some one who toughed out everything his whole life is go to a good doctor or ER ASAP and don't let them dismiss a single concern until there's a REAL diagnosis and treatment or explanation of when and how it will go away (believe me you don't want to have to swallow the pill that i recently had to and that' s being told your life is pretty much written out to be in a wheelchair or dead long before old age and natural causes get to you because something went undiagnosed and untreated for years of your life)

not trying to scare you or talk about my shit, but trying to make sure no other young man/woman believes all one doc tells them and lets their health fail to the point where it's too dan late to help what's comining if you happen to have some rare disease or condition like ijust happened to be so fortunate as to find out this august 8th (i've been fighting the pains for years thinkging they were ONLY because of injuries and surgeries when in fact the reason the surgeries and injuries wouldn't heal was this disorder i inherited)

have you been on prescription pain killers for any length of time over 5 days??? if so you could be what boils down to "dope sick" Having personally needed treatment for chronic pains for the last 11 years it wasn't until i had been on opiate painkillers for almost 6 years that i first became recovered enough from the first accident to think "i don't need to have these filled anymore, i'm doing ok to where i should be fine without them" it was at that point i became "self aware" of the addiction (or as doctors like to call it Physically Dependant on opiates..

if not you may just have the flu... if it's pain killers man, that's a battle from hell. Although i still take them, I will NOT take them on a steady schedule in any more quantity that absolutely needed and i'm in the worst shape now than compared to any time previouse in my life as far as pain levels are concerned..

NOw there's pills/meds aside from opiates with similar withdrawels and some can even kill you..for example benzodiazepenes (dangersous as hell to stop suddenly) and even more ironic, the "methadone" that places give people to come off opiates, carries a far more dangerouse withdraw than the opitaes themselves, there's just no euphoric feeling associated with it so it's easier to break the mental addiction... and even worse Suboxone, these can KILL you from withdraw complications (and I know an older woman who's 52 that her husband was a heroin addict, was put on suboxone for years and he died on vacation from complications associated with the withdraw from suboxone (ironically, his vacation was to celebrate independance from opiates) I know this woman from my pain management center as she is to this day hooked on suboxone instead of it being used like it was intended with it's associated narcan inrediant to help addicts. this happened by proffit based organizations buying out the clinics and places that dealt in these addictive "helping hands substances" and to this day there's barely a methadone clinic that's run by a non profit or a government where they are used properly..now it's just a way for a company to b your legal heroin pusher never planning onyou to leave..

when i lost doctors from a recent retirement and couldn't get opiates i suffered it out, went to the ER for pain but refused methadone PERIOD!!! some need it though as there's a strong mental depression that goes with opitae withdrawels and can last 2 years, some don't need it.. I coulda used it MAYBE but being that they say i will always need opiate pain control i no longer worry about it cause things are more seriouse than addictions/dependancies, for me it's a matter of time till basically death or parallasys... sorry to get long winded but you don't mention opitaes but sound like your withdrawinfg from them, so i wanted to be clear to all about the dangers of them as well as the more seriouse dangers of the drugs to "get you clean" (a.k.a keep you a customer for life)

It sounds to me like you have a severe cold or flu. Not to say Glenn's advice is something to take lightly, he is obviously very wise when it comes to the medical world. But I have suffered very similar symptoms from a really bad flu. The chills and tingling are typically from a fever. When your body is 5* hotter than normal, your going to feel cold much easier. Your nervous system is also affected by the sickness and fever which can obviously have negative affects on the body. I am typically sensitive to touch and even laying down can be painful, it's just your body on "high alert".

When you take any kind of NSAID (Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen, etc.) it can relieve your symptoms dramatically, making you feel much better if not normal. Once those meds wear off, the symptoms will come right back. Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen can be safely taken together. I would look at the drug facts label on each bottle to learn the recommended dosage and possible side affects. I would try to eat as much good food as possible along with drinking juice or water religiously. Emergen-C has also seemed to help me get better and stay better.

But ultimately, if there is any question about your health, don't hesitate to see a doctor. You know yourself better than anyone, and a doctor can certainly give you more solid and trustworthy answers. Everything you read should be taken with a grain of salt, including my post. But otherwise I would suggest filling up with good stuff and just resting.

Well I'm feeling better this morning besides my back and shoulders still have some mild pain in them. My cough still feels like I'm being stabbed in the throat though, right above my collar bone on the right side. Something in my throat is really sore there.
Hopefully it gets better through the day. I'll make some more hot honey tea, that always helps my throat when I'm coughing alot. I read the label and all the one said was not to take with other aceteminophem drugs so i figured ibprophen was ok to take with. I took more than what the bottle says I know. But because one pill never really helped relieve any pain before. I took 4 200mg pills sunday even and nothing else.

It was only yesterday i took the flu med with 650mg of acetaminophen with 400mg ibprophen at 10-11am and it started wearing around 930pm. Thats when the ,i guess, "neurospasms" started. They didn't quit either& first time I've felt this before. I assumed it was a side affect if the two drugs together wearing off or something. I haven't had nerve spasms b4. I just wanted to make sure i could take the two together and not be damaging my nervous system by doing so. I could feel it in my feet and it went up to the back of my head through my spine. It made me want to twitch and blink some.
I hope its no birth defect like yours glenn. I did read your entire post btw and have read some of your others as well. And I wish you better health and if you ever need anything lmk. I have a bunch of stock parts and some body panels and tons of misc. Stuff if you ever missing anything. My dad has some birth defect if having only one jugular vein to his head? And he also only sweats on one side of his head. So a defect couldn't be ruled out I guess. I'll be sure to get check out if i get the spasms again outside of cold chills.
Thanks for the replies. Very much appreciated.

Glad to hear things are improving, I may have come across a little over dramatic but if i did it was not to scare you or anything, it's just having been through unimaginable things and trying to tough out ost of them the one thing i can say or do now is to try and keep anyone else from trying to be too tough when there's something that could be a larger issue hiding in the symptoms.. keep us up to date on the recovery and take care of yourself...again i'm glad to hear your coming out the other side of this.

Take acetaminophen and ibuprofen are ok to take together its Naproxin you want to stay away from combining. make sure you are drinking a ton of water. When sick with flu like symptoms you can get dehydrated very severely and it happens fast. As funny as this sound eat some chicken soup( the hormones they inject will make you feel better). But the big thing is to hydrate.

I am a Corpsman and I have given so many IV bags to Marines because they are sick and refuse to drink.Water, gatorade or shoot even pedialyte is great when you are sick. Remember you want your urine to be light tint of yellow, if it is darker you are dehydrated. I tell my Marines one bottle of water(16.9oz) an hour when they are sick they always ask if soda counts too..no it doesnt make sure it is WATER based Teas are fine as the caffeine will help with any headaches.

Make sure you eat something with any medication. I ended up with ulcers from ibuprofen when i was taking it every day in high school when I was in track cause i never had anything in my stomach so i wouldn't get sick after practice. And I was practically stoned on Vicodin after my c section cause no one told me I was supposed to eat with it. But acetominophen and ibuprofen are safe together. Just make sure you don't take too much acetominophen. My brother almost died because he misread lables. What i always do is switch off with them to keep them from wearing off. For me, tylenol always takes an hour to work, lasts for two, and then starts wearing off an hour before i can take more. So then i'd take the ibuprofen and that'd start working in about 30 minutes and usually lasts at least five, so i overlap with tylenol an hour before it wears off. Works great for me. Of course I'm a 90 lb person, so timing may be different for you.

4 200 mg tabs is the same as one prescription dose, so i wouldn't excede that.

It could also be an allergy to something in one of the meds. I know I'm allergic to most antibiotics and i got hives after taking ibuprofen once. Only happened once, so it could have been a mix of the meds and the arizona green tea i took it with. That's the only explaination the doctors could come up with.

Could also be that your body's not use to meds if you don't take them often. I know i usually only need the minimum dose of everything cause i usually just suffer through it. Even after my c section i only took one tylenol if the pain got unbearable. And i was driving and doing everything i wasn't supposed to be doing within days of leaving the hospital.

Try finding some all natural stuff. That's what I mostly use. Try a vitamin b supplement. A difficiency of b vitamins can cause tingling and numbness.

YOU JUST DID A LITTTLE TOO MUCH HEIR-RON YOU BE ALRIGHT AFTER YOU FIX>>>> LOL

just kidding, sorry but siting here on the phone fighting with medicaid over coverage they federal government assured me the state had to provide until my medicare kicks in and needed some comic relief...glad your feeling better

thera flu is more than acetaminophen. there are also decongestants and antihistamines in there. and for the record the amount of aceteminophen in theraflu is ALOT. Personally i think theraflu is awesome but you should know that the dosages in there are not small by anymeans.
short answers to questions.
yes, you can combine aceta, and IB. Niether effects your nervous system. Be aware that while a healthy human body can handle large dosages of IB, prolonged use at any dosage is very damaging to the liver and kidneys, your body needs time to clean the system out.
Repeated large dosages of aceta is REALLY bad for you but by repeated large dosages i mean like 1000mg a day for longer than 5 days, or say, 500mg a day for like 15 days, it all comes down to giving your body time to clean it self. increase hydration to help with this. taking theraflu for the duration of a cold is just fine.

Pseudoephredrine is one of the other main ingredients and although different and much much safer this drug is loosely related to "speed" and works as a vasoconstrictor meaning it constricts your blood vessels which causes the membranes in your nasal cavity to shrink, there by making it easier to breath.
If you were to show a hypersensitivity to this drug it could in theory create the symptoms you're describing as it does act on the nervous system. here are some adverse reactions.

Adverse effects

Common adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with pseudoephedrine therapy include: CNS stimulation, insomnia, nervousness, excitability, dizziness and anxiety. Infrequent ADRs include: tachycardia and/or palpitations. Rarely, pseudoephedrine therapy may be associated with mydriasis (dilated pupils), hallucinations, arrhythmias, hypertension, seizures and ischemic colitis;[13] as well as severe skin reactions known as recurrent pseudo-scarlatina, systemic contact dermatitis, and nonpigmenting fixed drug eruption.[14] Pseudoephedrine, particularly when combined with other drugs including narcotics, may also play a role in the precipitation of episodes of paranoid psychosis.[15] It has also been reported that pseudoephedrine, amongst other sympathomimetic agents, may be associated with the occurrence of stroke.[16]

sounds like you just have a sensitivity to it, nothing to panic about. lessen your dosage if you are concerned.

I highlighted CNS stimulation because it dawned on me you might not know the definition.
CNS is acronym for central nervous system. :)

Haha fighting the government sucks man I know.

I feel like I'm watching drug commercials LOL couples words of the good it'll due and two paragraphs of tge side effects that can reek havac LOL. Theraflu is pretty sweet. I always feel good when I take it and apparently its not just aceteminophen. I only had two packs of theraflu so went to walgreens and couldn't find it. So i got some 650 acete pain pills and cough syrup.

I guess I exceeded the 1000mg a day LOL. Causethe a few hours b4 going to walgreens i took some meds from my gf. They were bultab-acete-caff and i took two. Her prescription says 2-3. Idk the amount in them. But they weren't working too well. Then after walgreens i took two of the 650mg acete pills and the cough syrup. I felt pretty good rest of the day. And took another 2 650 acete tabs yesterday with the cough syrup and did pretty good working.

I feel almost normal now, didn't take anything today. I need to find more theraflu though. That stuff really works the best it seems. Idk what was up with my nerves that one time. Kinda freaked myself LOL I was thinking"oh hell I took too much meds and now I'm having withdrawl issues haha"

I need to remember to drink alot next time. I was afraid drinking too much would make me vomit but probably would have helped. I did notice the skin on the bottom of my feet unusually dry. I tried putting lotion twice in one day and my skin still got dry. I didn't drink anywhere near what you recommend.
Really trying to quit soda. I feel like its killing me LOL.
