Hello guys, I just installed all of my 4 struts and shocks. Once i finished I bounced the rear to feel the difference from before. When I bounced the front after applying weight a couple times the rod started going past the mount. I will take a picture of it in a few minutes just wanted to write this up first. I installed everything the same as I had done previously with the stock shocks.

When you say the rod went past the mount, you mean it poked into the car, right?

Did you reuse the factory dust boot? It has the mounting washer built into it. It sits right on that bronze colored shoulder right before the polished rod. Most OEM dust boots don't have that mounting washer. You have to find a washer that works or pick one up from the auto parts store. I've never done it myself and I'm drawing a blank, but there are a few threads covering this issue. I simply reused the factory boots, which I would suggest if you still have them.

I had typed a response but my laptop feels like clossing my browser every minute. I had mentined i was going to use a washer to solve the problem. I did infact but aftermarket dust covers, I still have the oem cover but the were less than perfect to my liking. One issue I have is that yes a washer will solve it. But the bumpstop I used sits on that collar so adding a washer will still push the bumpstop down past that collar then stop it.

The bumpstop should go past that collar. I slid my stock bump stops over the collar and all the way down to the shock body. It doesn't have to be at the top, it will work just the same at the bottom.

Unless I'm completely missing what your saying. LOL In that case it might be best to take a pic when you can.

I get what your saying. Your saying it doesnt matter if the bumpstop is at the top or bottom of the rod. It will do its job once the spring is fully conpressed. I will mostlikely just do a washer mod since my stock dust cover feel like plastic and are all bent.

Exactly, it just stops the shock piston from bottoming out and bending the rod. But sounds like you got it all worked out for now! :thumb:
