wow man keep up the amazing work. How much you got into the build so far? You must be loaded to afford these kind of expenses.

Thanks, I don't keep track of how much I am spending because I have been doing this build over the last 3 years. I just pick up parts when I hve the money. It is much easier than trying to do everything at one time.

Subbed. This is an awesome build. It's good to see someone who still does great work to a dsm.

Look forward to seeing this thing come together man.

Thanks man, i am hoping to finsh up this year so i can hit the track. I have learned that things take much longer when you are doing it for the first time. It looks easy when you read about it in another thread. But it is hard to duplicate. Thanks for the support guys.

I am doing a very similar build, its my first time building a DSM Race car too so learning as I can. The part that is killing me is all the small stuff, I've got the motor/trans figured out it's all the other stuff that I am not sure on. But i'll figure it out.

Good luck keep it up.

I agree. Another thing I did not think of when I started this build was the amount of tools I would need to build the car myself. That pushed me way over budget; but no plans to stop now. I will see it through until the end. It is going to be a great feeling to start this thing up and take it down the track (if I can drive it). It was worth the price of admission.

Thats the best feeling ever. Ul shit yourself the first time u make a full all out pass. Lol.

Since this is my first build I felt like the aem was over my head. I felt much more comfortable with link (from what I read) so I decided to sell the aem and I plan to get link soon.

Good call and smart. Link is much easier to learn the basics on and Tom and Dave have put years into upgrading and keeping Link up to par with almost anything else on the market. Not to mention you have a entire forum of people who are just dsm guys to pic their brain and get help that always helps. Build looks great I envy your build now LOL

Man u have a really high quality build. Dont cheap out and go with link. Trust me ul like the AEM A LOT more. I dont care what ANYBODY here says. Link is nowhere even close to bein on par with AEM.

I hear ya man; but, being a novice at tuning I didn't want to mess with something as complex as the AEM. Plus I wanted to start it and tune it myself (with some help from the forum). I just felt that link was something I could start with and then progress to something else in the future. We'll see how it works out.

Link will do you just fine, it damn near does everything aem does! Link is great, and will be the only thing i run in my car. I ran a 9.67 with a shitty 1.8 60ft while running link, and there is still alot left on the table! aem would'nt have done anything different for me, besides cost alot more and net the same resaults!

Thanks for the input Dave. Where do you get you car tuned?

Whats does AEM do that the link does thats useful to someone whose not a pro tuner? I have used both and know the difference.

I'm not a computer guy by any means. But even though ECMLink is great tuning software, it is still limited by the processing ability of the stock DSM ECU, whereas the AEM standalone unit doesn't have those kind of restrictions due to newer technology and can process information much faster.

Bare with me here, but it's similar to comparing an old 5 knob Apexi AFC to the SAFC 2 or any other modern piggy back device..

Its great, gets the job done. But there's always something better.

I use ECMLink V3 and have no complaints.

Thanks for the input Dave. Where do you get you car tuned?

His car was tuned by a freelancer on here, a member on the site. "dacowgod" is his username.

There is also another that is very good at tuning. Just check out the Freelancers section of the classifieds, you'll find em. They both do e-mail, and remote tunes as well.

To someone thats not a pro tuner... nothing. Aem definitly isnt easy to tune for someone that wants to tune their own car and doesnt have much experience (Not saying he doesnt have any experience, just meant in general). But if he was gonna take it to get it tuned then i think the AEM would be a better choice. The startup was one of the best thing about aem over link. It took a while for my car to start on e85 with the link. Soon as the aem went in and they messed with it, it started up nice and quick.

And with the new Infinity box coming out, AEM is gonna be back up to the top i think. I sat at the AEM booth at PRI and he went through the Infinity unit with me. And its insane, i think they have cought up with Motec finally.

I saw the new infinity stuff they have not caught up to Motech by any means. I will be switching to either a motec or aem at this point only because what I will be racing the car at this year will require more inputs and internal logging.

Link will work for 90% of the people out there its just a matter of what your goals are and what you need for the car. I still run link and will likely for the first part of the year until I decide if I am putting the gold box back in or giving aem a try.
