A recall has been publicized by Chrysler for the Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee from the 2002 through 2004 model years. The issue in the Liberty and Grand Cherokee recall is with the airbag control module. The wiring can develop a problem, causing the airbags to release arbitrarily, Will you be in the market to buy or sell a used or new Spokane Ford Escape? Thousands affected in US

There are 919,545 automobiles impacted by the Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee recall recently publicized by Chrysler, 744,822 of which are in the States. There are 103,465 Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee vehicles in several nations, 21,828 in Mexico and 49,430 in Canada. The cause of the recall is that there is a problem in the airbag control component, according to Reuters.

The recall affects the 2002 to 2004 Grand Cherokee and 2002 to 2003 Jeep Liberty, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Reuters explained that half of the recall is for Grand Cherokees and half of it is for the Liberty automobiles, according to Chrysler.

Danger in airbag module

Obviously it would be very dangerous if the airbag were to release at any moment, and that is the problem that is taking place in the Liberty and Grand Cherokee vehicles. The airbag control module is not working properly.

In 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration started an investigation after getting a bunch of grievances of random airbag deployment. It became a more in depth recall at the start of this year and started to include the Grand Cherokee when the engineering analysis started.

The NHTSA, according to BusinessWeek, pinpointed an electrical stress in one of the circuits in the control module. They also found that the seat belt pretensioner engaged during the events. All told, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration found 215 incidents, which triggered 81 minor injuries but no crashes.

Getting it fixed

Affected Liberty vehicles were made between June 6, 2001 and March 19, 2003 and impacted Grand Cherokee automobiles were made between Aug. 1, 2001 and May 16, 2003. Proprietors should check the VIN panel in the driver side door sill and check the manufacture date.

Naturally, the fix in the Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee recall is free. All owners have to do is take their vehicle to a dealer, say a dealer of Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Springfield, PA, or wherever, and technicians will install an electric filter free of charge that will fix the problem. Proprietors will be notified beginning in January.

Make sure you watch out for warning lights to come on for no apparent reason. These dashboard warning lights come on with affected automobiles and might be a bad sign.

Doesn't surprise me- Jeeps are among the biggest pieces of shit on the highway.

By the way- what the hell are you driving there...a 99 Laser? I can tell by the time your account was created (today at 2:21am) versus the time you made this post (today at 2:21am) as well as your wealth of knowledge about DSM's that you're here to stay.

I knew it was spam when he said "come and test drive a new ford escape"

First of all. My wife's escape is awsome, but it has had more recalls than I can count. One in particular is the ABS modular can break down and catch on fire regardless even if the keys arnt in them.

And second, that's an Audi, not DSM. Haha
Away with you space jockey.

And third, they didn't make a 99 laser. WOW OLYMPIC STAR MOTORS: is a joint car venture taking place in the past between time and space to bring you the best most outdated futuristic materials. COMING SOON: the R8 conquestarion

Beam me up Scotty.

Someone break out the Banhammer.

DO IT NOW! NEYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUGGGggghhhhhh.

Unless this recall hasn't officially been released yet, it's not even real. I have yet to see a liberty or grand cherokee come in for a recall airbag module. I've seen about 500 liberty's for the rear control arm recall though.

There is a huge airbag module recall, the L01. But its for 08 Grand Caravans. The problem is water would enter though the HVAC drain tube grommet and find its way into the airbag modules. There were a few reports of random airbag deployment while just driving down the road. But a newly designed HVAC drain tube grommet and new airbag module fixes it.
