Well as you can see I don't post too often because I always find the right info reading and has been working fine for me, but now I am in the process of replace my head gasket and timing components, and I've been reading about cams and springs, to see what will work for my car, first of all, setup.

Fp red, Fp manifold, Ams exhaust, vrsf ic. 2g im,
wally 255, 1000cc injectors, fpr, rail
Act2100 act Flywheel, Stock tranny.
ecmlink v3 with Gm Maf

when I bought the car, they told me that was a Stock rebuild block on the engine and a ported and polished head, that was 4 years ago and I have never pulled up the head to confirm this, so I still think that is a stock block.

My car is my daily driver and Id like to keep it street friendly not a drag monster but a decent time on 1/4 mile.

so what is your recommendation on cams/springs and retainers for this set up?
btw I have a set of Evo IX springs and retainers stored may be I can use them.

Right Now I can't spend a lot Christmas is coming and Santa has been eating my DSM/gvr4 budget.

thanks for your opinion or recommendations. :thumb:

You have a pretty good setup to make some good power get a nice set of 272's or maybe even a 264 272 set you really shouldnt have to rev it that high to get power with that red so the evo springs and retainers should be fine for you... If your car is in good shape and everything is working properly you should have no problem putting down low 12 second 1/4 mile times and still have it be reliable for your daily driver..

With your setup you could go higher with power but since your on the stock block and tranny anything over 400whp IMO is really going to shorten the lifespan of that stuff so i would keep it under that power if i were you :) thats just my .02 should be a fun car either way! :thumb:

I am not going to recommend a specific cam set up for you, but from your post it looks like you want to go with some of the smaller 272 cams, such as BC, FP/Comp, HKS or the clones of them from Delta.

Any of the above cams will work with a single spring set up, BC1100, Manley, Crower and they will work with stock retainers also.

I do not know if you have read these...

Good, I read all of the above, I think ill go with the hks or dks and a single spring setup, I've never revd my car over stock redline, so due to budget I will stay like that and if I get more money I will pass those parts to the almost stock GVR4 and go big with forged internals and better tranny.

another question... are adjustable cam gears nedeed ? or it can wait until I go bigger.

thanks for the help.

Cam gears are recomended just so you can degree in the cams. But depending on the cams you select, some are closer to drop in than others.
