whats up guys , ive been away from the community for a while but now im back. im looking for a link to tunerpro so i can burn chips with my moates burn2 burner. i dont want to hear anything about link in this thread i know its way better or easyer whatever but i have a one year old and its out of the question right now (unless someone want to give me it for free LOL)

thanks in-advance

I second this. I need a type of how to for burning chips. The ins and outs of different things you can change, and how to do it. Thanks in advance.

TunerPro and TunerPro RT - Professional Automobile Tuning Software

That should work with the burn2 in real time. I use a topwin usb eprom programmer from ebay. It works great.

You just tune the bin, save it, burn a chip with the file you've saved, then put the chip into the ECU.

Most people use 27C256, they are UV erasable. A UV eraser on ebay is ~$20 and it makes 10 chips last forever. I use a SST 27SF512. It has 64kb of data on it, so you can program two 32kb binary images. I put a new tune and a known good one and flip between the two. The 27SF is also electronically erasable so you don't have to put it under a UV light. I have no idea if the Burn2 will do 27SF chips, but I'm assuming it will. I dunno where to find 27SF512 chips, you can get 27C256 chips on ebay for cheap, or mouser for slightly more. A friend asked if he could have a sample and they sent him a few tubes full of brand new chips.

When you are happy with the tune leave the chip in there and move on to a different car.

If you don't want to learn hex you'll be limited to changing the things in the XDF file. Different XDF files are available that do many different things from very basic to speed density. If you do learn how the code works, you can make the ECU do pretty much anything you want it to do. This is how it works

Does that help? If you have more questions I'll check this thread later on in the afternoon.

thanks for the linky, i noticed before when reading other threads that you had to select something for 1g dsm. does anyone have a bins i could play around with

i got the chip burning and erasing down from the cough honda Cough illness i had. this hex stuff however is super confusing to me but im willing to learn .i guess ill post a mod sheet as of now.

90 talon tsi awd, stock motor, apr's mls hg, pte 880 injectors, holset hx35 8 blade stock housing w/full vband exhaust. act 2600 ,built trans. thats about it off the top of my head. will be getting delta k272's and springs and retainers and meth.

i just felt that would be pertant to my situation beings how im probably going to me asking for help when i get ever thing togethere and start tuning. i had link on my front wheel and ive tuned many many honda's but ive never used anything this complex

you the man rep to you

forgot to mention i also have a big fmic and maf trans later with gm 3 inch maf

to add to my topic. what else is out there besides dsmlink. (the cheaper the better)that i can burn on to a chip and avoid the complicated hex editing

Jackal/Werewolf, Megasquirt, or wiring in a 2G/EVO8 ECU. These along with what you have now are about the least expensive "programmable" ECU there are.

jackle is only speed desinty correct? and werewolf plus an ostrich puts it at v3 lite pricing

Nothing wrong with speed density :D. I thought you could run Jackal with a regular chip burner. Werewolf, don't know. I have never used either, I've always had a 2G. Just listing the options that are out there that I know of.

You can get ostrich 2.0 to run with tunerpro. It's an EPROM emulator, so instead of having to burn a chip everytime you make a change you just change it in tunerpro and upload it to the ostrich which plugs in the EPROM socket where the chip would. I just it ostrich and tunerpro before I put the car away for winter, so far it's great. I have edited bins and xdf and logging file that has launch, nlts, and knock sum gauge. Also the edited logging file logs wideband on the egr temp wire input to the ecu.

im leaning toward jackal or werewolf either way sd is in the future for my car its just cost jackal/werewolf/ link. im going the cheapest route first until i have money to buy the best (no pissing matches)

I need a run down of whats what. How to do things. I have just been experimenting with a bin and xdf. I open tuner pro, open the xdf, and then I can change the sliders for most things. But then do I have to add anything i do, to a bin. Im very lost, and cant find much information about the actual process.

The order jackel you can but the newer version you can't.

well chip burning with out logging and tuning in real time kinda . sucks been there done that so if i don't get link ill be getting a ostich . tunerpro seems like a good option but im a lil (eh ) scarred of this hex editing stuff . jackal also seems like a good option (especially at 20 bucks) along with werewolf (but the cost is damn near ,if not the same as link)

Just have a patch harness made to run an evo ecu. The 3g (01-05 M/T ONLY) ecu is the same as an evo ecu once you flash an evo ROM onto it. I have a buddy that builds the patch harnesses for cheap, the ecu you get can get for $30-150, then a tactrix $30-190. If you search around you could have the whole setup for ~$150 easily.
