Do the wheels look like this

Seems like they should fit I have 18s with the same size tires on a 97 gst spyder

looking at the same rims... so you say they go on with no problem mmmmmh u sure about that??

Just expect a bumpier ride with 18's
:( I have those same specs and I feel all bumps LOL

Wheel diameter is not what efects the ride quality/handling, it's the profile of the tire. The lower the profile, the less rubber there is between the road surface and the wheel itself, and therefore less rubber to flex and "absorb" road vibrations. On the flip side though, les flex will aid in cornering ability, steering feedback, and steering response. It's kind of a trade off - one for the other.

please put the correct size tires on

no 225's

smallest size you should run is 245/35's or 255/35's 225's are for a 7.5" wide wheel

well duh... more rim+less rubber hence the reason he would have a bumpy ride

so more rime means a bumpy ride

i mounted my 527's on 225/40r18 and they look great. minimal tire strectch, i havent driven the cars with the wheels on yet so i cant comment on the ride but as far as the tires go they look great.

More rim does NOT mean more bumpy ride, it's the less tire part that does! it doesn't matter how big the rim diameter is, as long as the same aspect ratio is kept, the ride won't change. (having more rotational mass of a bigger diameter rim excluded).

yes it does when talking about a specific car, which of course we are.

Lets see stock our cars came with 205/55s right? So why dont you try to put a 225/55/18 on your eclipse and get back to me.

Since we are talking about a specific car its given that you have to sacrifice rubber for rim

You can do otherwise, just the speedo will be off. I put Evo 9 MR wheels on my car. The tires are in spec for the Evo fitment, and isn't the recommended tire size for a 1g with 17s. I wouldn't have it any other way though.

Thank goodness this thread is in appearance or I'd be going nuts by now. Carry on.

There is one, exactly like it in the newbie fourm, Different member, same wheels, hes looking at gold ones, same size 18x8.75.

To OP, I would go with Extended lugs, With that wide of a rim, even with a stock offset, you are going to have difficulty getting a good amount of lugs threaded on, its just safer when going with a wide wheel.

I just picked up some G37 wheels for my 2G, they are 18x8, I was also wondering
what would be the best tire size for these ? I was thinking 225/40 but reading this post,
I'm now thinking that size might be a tad too narrow. I dont want tire stretch, I want them to at least as wide if not a little wider than the rim (& as I'm typing this I'm also pondering the simple math it would take to figure that out) but just wanted to double check what you all had to say on the matter.

Thank you

They are +43mm offset. That's important. Many guys run 245's on an 8" rim, but with 8mm less clearance between the tire and the knuckle, you may need 235's to clear. A 5mm spacer should let you run a 245/35/18. Without it, you'll have to run a smaller (less common) size tire, like a 235/35/18, which will really limit your choices. A 235/40/18 may be close without a spacer.

1010tires has a great calculator.

I used a 245/40/17 as my base tire, because i know that's what can fit with on an 8" wide wheel with +38mm offset.
