In road racing, it's not about your top speed in a straight line.... It's about how much speed you can carry through a given corner. I think you guys are in the wrong forum section.

Obviously we were alil of topic. Take two seconds and read my post above where i said nothing to the op about top speed.

I was simply answer the guys question. Not telling op road racing is about top speed. Thanks though.

:/ Posts like these make me even wonder why I post on these forums anymore... Unfortunately I know I was that way when I was younger.

Sorry guys. Things have been a bit hectic. Im going to go to the Akron autocross track in the spring time and give it a go. All advise has been taking to a thought. And we'll see what happens from there. Fair enough?

Auto-xing is alot of fun. I did it for 6 years and I killed alot of cones my first 3 years. Even took the cone killer of the year at my local auto-x once.

My advice is to walk the track a few times and pretend you in the car when walking. So if there is a slalom then walk through it, if you think a wide turn is best than walk wide. Be thinking about how you are going to take the next turn/gate while you are at the current gate. And lastly bring lots of water.

Don't listen to these people, to really LEARN how to drive your car you must practice on Gran Turismo. It will teach you each technique and by the time you get all the licenses it will be pure instinct to drive as it instructed you!

Im really surprised no on has said anything about the post above me

Noted. Not everyone has been exactly charming in this thread. But i think i have the info i need. :)

And what info do you have? Did anything that was said change your perception of your driving abilities or how you will proceed at the track?

i still cant figure out why more people dont spend time at the track doing autocross\lapping or racing. Its just too much dam fun. Keep the speeding off the street before you hurt someone.

Price.

Autox isn't bad, but track events/lapping days are pricy. Few people want to drop the couple hundred it costs to get out for a day or two.

Some people also don't care about actually having to turn their steering wheel :p

Spend less on mods and more on the driver.

Granted, it hurts the ego more when you get passed by a stock engined "little man miata" in your overheating 500 whp compensatory machine.
