I say you can't go wrong with an Alpine set up.

I currently have Fusion ones all round in my Supra and although they do the job, i wish i'd invested in Alpine ones when i had all the panels off. Really can't be bothered to change them out again now though.

Polk Audio are very nice as well. Very crisp sound.

Alpine +1!!

Try to get component setup it you can afford, that's a woofer and tweeter. If you go Alpine, Type R models are AMAZING. I have Type R components in my doors and tweeters replaced the OE ones in the dash by the windshield. I did cheap out by getting Type S 6"x9"s in the back and they don't sound all that good.

You can just use factory wiring, but if you are installing a deck, you could run RCA cables to a 4-channel amp and run speaker wire. Thats what I did and I don't regret it at all.

The stock infinity speakers that come with the GSX's are nice. Im sure you could pick up a complete set with the stock amplifier for about $20. It would be the cheapest route while still getting a great sound.

Yeah, I just found these which appear to be a steal. What do you guys think? And what are your suggestions for wiring with an aftermarket amp? Still gotta buy the amp and the 6x9s

Yeah the previous owner already has an aftermarket deck installed, nothing fancy but it should do the job. Just not sure how the wiring has been done for that one so it should be fun to sort the mess out.

I don't know much about speakers, what about these ones? And I was hoping to wire them all to an aftermarket amp as well. Can I use the wiring that is in the car already or will I have to rewire everything?

You can use the existing wiring, but it will be amped by the head unit.

If you want the speakers to be amped by an aftermarket amplifier (instead of the head unit) you will have to run new wires from the speakers to the amplifier.

As far as speakers go, if you're going to buy inexpensive, make sure they have really good reviews. Component speakers usually give a better sound, but coaxial speakers are more cost effective and can also give a clear and crisp sound. Again, make sure the speakers have really good reviews.

Also, crutchfield.com is a great place to research everything car audio.

Hertz ESK 6.5" components. I am now on set #3 in 3 different cars and have LOVED them every time. You need to run some power to these things and don't skimp on a cheap amp, get at least 75w RMS running to them. You won't regret it, you will hear things in songs that you never heard before. For the price they are hard to beat. I have done Focal, Inifinity, JL audio, Alpine, etc and these are way better than any of them outside stepping up into the serious $500+ range speakers.

I am guessing though you are on a tight budget from the speakers you posted earlier. I would wait and save up and be happier in the future than using a cheaper one now.

It's just that I'm not too big on audio so I don't really want to be dumping money into speakers and stuff. The car is built for speed and I'd just like some decent sounding audio on the side. Not looking to invest too much when it comes to sound.

Pioneer speakers are good for the price. I have two mtx 12" subs with pioneer door and side speakers with a boss flip out Screen and It's awesome sound for a decent price. Kicker makes good ones now too. Look up sonic electronic or Crutchfield.com Really good sites with something for everyone.

I've been very impressed with alpine and jl audio some of my friends swear by Memphis though

alpine and jl are all to name brand I personally have infinity reference 6.5 co-axels in my other car they sound awesome and there amplified with an infinity 475a i would keep the stock dsm amp and just buy some new speakers.

Stick with most of the name brands and you should be ok...Jl audio, alpine, kicker, infinity just to name a few..and they will sound alot better if you get a good high quality 4 channel amp rather then running the speakers off the head unit.

I spent about 160 on brand new Alpine type S components for my G1. 6 1/2 's all the way around and dome tweeters in the dash. 80watts RMS which matched perfectly to my piece of ish planet audio dvd head units output... Ive had alot of systems but this little set up is about the closest Ive got to clarity and loudness for a decent price....

....but it aint worth nothin unless you got a whole lota Memphis!

mtx or JL evven lower end models are better than something you will find on ebay

I'd go with JL audio or maybe Idmax the Idmaxs are awesome sounding speakers but I'd run the speakers off a 300/4. Its all a mater of opinion and what sounds good to your ears shop around and listen to different kinds and see what you like most.

I'd say that speakers are like you get what you pay for. You may find a cheaper set of 6x9's that sounds good along with a set of 12's that bump pretty well, but they may bite the bullet after just turning it up a little too far and having them poorly tuned.

I'm not gonna lie you can get away with it, my friend had a Clarion 12 with a Sony 600 watt amp and just beat the ish out of the sub and it pounded pretty well and hard. Shortly after though it bit the dust and we went with a more reputable brand.

So definatley go with a good brand such as: Alpine, JL Audio, Kicker, Rockford Fosgate.

And a good tip, get an amp that powers the sub with the correct wattage :p

Can't ever go wrong with Pioneer or Alpine, they give a really nice sound. Don't go cheap on your main speakers, you'll be regretting it!

Just throwing another name out there, but as for subs I'll never buy anything other than Rockford Fosgate. They sound incredible.

As for JL, I really don't like them. They sound kinda shallow compared to RF. I do, however, really like Pioneer. The upper level woofer/speakers that Pioneer make are awesome, as are their tweeters.
Currently, I have 2 Pioneer tweeters in the doors, 2 Pioneer woofers in the rear panels, and a 12" RF subwoofer powered by 300W P300-12 RF amp, and a JVC head unit. It kicks ass.
