Alright so I have my front subframe off, and I'm curious how to get my bushings out as I want to purchase some solid aluminum bushings :)

I've searched and searched and can't find a good how to write up or anything. Maybe I just suck at using the search. But, anyway, someone help me out here with some good instructions or something.

I did come across that you can burn out the bushings but I would rather not do it that way. I only have basic tools, no presses or things like that.

Thank you!

well i don't know how how the bushings in the sub frame on a 2g are. but i just got mine out in my 1g and all i did was prop it up off the ground a little bit. took a hammer and a screwdriver, put the tip of the screw driver in the hole and hit the handle of the screwdriver and mine came right out!

i did my front sub frame on my 2g. I took a drill and drilled a bunch of holes around the inner sleeve then removed it by breaking the rest of the rubber off with a pair of vice grips. Then you need to cut the outer metal ring of the bushing. Then you should be able to pound out the outer sleeve. Next clean up the hole i used a press to install the new solid bushing. I would suggest this route as it will be less time and less of a pain in the butt. But if all you have is a vice you could try that not sure how it would work out. But for the most part it is not to bad of a project.

this is for the rear but its the same idea for the front

Like I said I would rather not burn them out as it's windy as hell here in Nebraska. and I'm pretty sure I would end up burning my entire pasture down if even the smallest spark got away because of how dry it's been. But I'll give it a whirl by drilling out around the inner sleeve and go about it that way.
